I thought by now I'd have to referee a rousing Rousey thread.

What are you guys' thoughts on the fight tonight?

I personally do not even like to think about a woman that could quite possibly kick my azz. It puts a big dent in my whole mental concept of what a female should be.

I'm with you. She truly disgusts me.

I don't really follow UFC, but it seems to me that she might have picked an easier target to make her comeback. A warm up of sorts. Funny how someone can go from appearing to be invincible to getting quickly squashed.

I don't care for female fighters by any stretch, but Rousey's not a bad looking woman IMO, certainly not as manly looking as Nunes.

I'm with Atom Smasher and billtx49. Just the thought of her can wilt a raging hard on.

She's hot but has probably mental issues like 99% of boxers and ''fighters'' after all the training and competition, it does leave a trail on the mind.

Also, she probably came from a hard background.

So totally hot but be cautious

(maybe she's a kitty in personal life ;)

Here's the fight, while the link still works. Ronda always was a grappler, not a boxer. She destroyed her career by trying to be something she's not. It happens a lot. Fans want to see striking, not grappling, so fighters are always pressured to be entertaining.

Statement by her mom:
http://www.lowkickmma.com/UFC/ronda-rouseys-mom-releases-statement-after-ufc-207/
  • Junior World Judo Champion
  • Pan American Games Judo Gold Medalist
  • First American woman in a decade to win a world cup in judo (and then she went on to win several more)
  • U.S. Open Gold Medalist
  • World Judo Championships Silver Medalist
  • Olympic Bronze Medalist
  • U.S. Senior National Champion
  • First UFC World Champion
  • First woman to make a million dollars in martial arts
  • Co-authored sports book of the year – My Fight/ Your Fight
  • Acted in three movies
That’s just a partial list, but let me suggest that someone who has been world level athlete in two sports, written a best seller, acted in movies and made millions of dollars, all before the age of 30 has a pretty darn good track record. On top of that, Ronda has been part of the USADA drug testing since she was 16 years old, never failed a drug test, always paid her taxes, never been arrested, never been to rehab, has zero divorces, zero DUIs and zero children.

I've always respected Rousey. She carries herself well. Came from humble beginnings and made something of herself.
Very attractive girl who interviewed well always.
But her time may have past here in the UFC

She's starting to remind me of Tiger Woods. On top of the world for what seemed like forever, ran into one tragic event (her losing her first match),then bam....their invincibility in their respective sports seems to be gone.

If she scares you, you're a wuss. She can neither strike nor block strikes. If you dont let her get you on the ground with your one arm in both her hands, you've got nothing to worry about.

I'd agree. Man she took a lot of strikes in 48 seconds. Rousey was totally out boxed. Why she stayed in the pocket is beyond me. I suspect her confidence is shattered and she may be done in MMA.
Perhaps she should focus on movies and Hollywood.

When real fighting gets too real, just switch to fake fighting. Rousey could follow Lesnar's example and head to the WWE.

It always bothers me when people call wrestling fake. There is a big distinction between scripted and fake. Watch The Undertaker vs Mick Foley at hell in the cell 1998 and tell me its "fake". Foley suffered a dislocated shoulder, a major concussion, ended up with a tooth up his nose, lip split wide open, and thumbtacks sticking out of his back. And left on his own power.

Anyway, Lesnar was still 6-3 in UFC and a 2 time world champion.

Ronda ends up 12-2. They were both very good, but couldn't get to that greatest of all time level. Not every athlete is gonna go undefeated for life, but she admittedly did hit a wall hard here and I think she will end up in WWE now.
