What is up with the grammar and spelling on this site?

hey i agree about Royal elite making asll of his s's into z's for no reason - but if one is making a long post and makes a few spelling typos because he is typing too fast, then that shouldnt really matter, ive never seen anyones post that was just so horrible that it made my eyes water - i dont notice tiny errors as long as THE POINT is made and the thread is good

I dare you to read any of HENRY'S posts and tell me they're not confusing. He is just one example out of many that make my eyes water.

Correct, nobody ever mentioned typos. I'm not even talking about knowing the difference between "there" "they're" and "their"...or "your" and "you're". I can decipher the meaning by the context in which it's used in a sentence. I'm talking about people who string seven or eight misspelled words together. That is ridiculous.

I may not be the world's best speller, and my grammar may not be the caliber of which doctoral thesis are written, but what is up with the complete lack of basic skills in most of these posts?

I ask this not to come off as some intellectual snob, but because many times it's really hard to decipher what the person is saying. I can understand a few problems if English isn't the person's first language, but often times the authors were born and raised in the good ole US OF A.

I'm not saying your punctuation and spelling have to be perfect, but if you're going to ask a question at least invest in spellcheck.

Obviously your reading comprehension skills are lacking. Who cares about grammatical errors? I was talking about something completely different. I suggest you focus your efforts on improving your reading skills, and put aside the grammar for later.

I can see the merits of both side of this argument.

My only pet peev is when dudes write your instead of you're.

YOUR is a possessive pronoun, e.g. "It is your turn to open a three-set, mate".

YOU'RE is short for you are, e.g. "You're going to open that three-set, mate".

Even typing youre going to open (without the apostrophe) is better than your going to open when laziness and lack of time prompts you (and me) to mangle the Queen's English.

I agree with Mr. know it all on this one. It takes no more time to type with reasonable clarity than it does to be a typin' wid da Z's and da S's. I hate that because it serves no useful purpose. I'll bet it probably took longer to type this:

..and yeah, I know it's a joke, but the above isn't too far off the mark from some that I've seen.
Recall how quickly "Ebonics" faded away (if you ever evern heard of it)? Just food for thought on that one. And I know someone will try to slam me for that one, but it's just an example. Get over it.
Typing/writing has nothing to do with someone trying to act smarter than someone else - it's just the way (in my case anyway) that I do it normally. I'd also be willing to wager that the vast majority of folks out there in the US would prefer to read text without all of the shortcuts.
