Guess you dont need any explanation regarding the question, however keep in mind that Im talking generally not only regarding to attraction and girls but also respect from men, strangers, friends and family or co-workers.

It makes me feel better about myself knowing I am in better physical shape than the other guys around me. Call it ego fueling/egotistical, but I do it for no one else. Did wonders for my self esteem.

I believe at this point that a masculine presence is necessary to be taken seriously not only from men but even women, Im not talking about sexual attraction but being considered a man.

Apparently modern women simply dont acknowledge someone as man untill he reach a minimum size/shape, it seems like they consider them less men in fields outside the sexual one.
Regarding men while the clever one can appreciate you for what you think and provide and recognize you as a leader as long as you iron balls, the average man is not open altough much more than women.

I also believe for men in the normal standard (so no rock starts hyper rich etc) a masculine look is necessary to have girls desire you at an animalistic level, that level which unlock compliance to your dirty requests.

Men dont need Caesar to be 6feet tall and 200lbs heavy to take him seriously while women are not gonna do ass 2 mouth with a woody allen type guy.

it does matter

I went from being a real skinny guy to having a lean muscular body over the course of the past two years or so.

Initially, it did boost my self-esteem, but it was in a shallow way. I felt egotistical but not entirely secure. It was like a crutch I leaned on to feel better about myself, to the point where my confidence relied almost entirely on how often I had lifted in the past week or so. If I felt shredded and strong, I would be confident. If I didn't I was back to the same old timid guy I used to be.

After a while I settled into my new body and started to feel secure and at ease with my self rather than ****y and egotistical. I do believe that muscles are important. But, they are an essential part to a much larger package. I've seen great looking guys in great shape that can't pull girls simply because they are insecure and not confident. They're either too timid or too ****y (both of which reflect a diff type of insecurity). And I've seen shrimpy guys get laid like rockstars.

So while they are not completely essential, they are a great asset to have which can take your game to the next level and often get you an even higher caliber of women. After all, your health and strength is extremely important to being attractive. Girls want a man that knows how to handle himself and can defend himself.

this being said, I've heard time and time again from many girls that BEING VERY JACKED AND OVERLY MUSCULAR IS NOT ATTRACTIVE. The ideal body type for MOST girls is one that has a good amount of muscle but is extremely lean and well-defined (think Brad Pitt fight Club). My friends are big into bodybuilding and while they worship guys like Jay Cutler, girls are always like "ewww...that guy is way too big. I'd rather be shredded up with a 6 pack over having lots of muscle with poor definition any day. Being fit and being strong are very different things. Most muscular meatheads are "out of shape"

So imagine this case both in a club and in a university debate room:

Guy 1 : http://i2.listal.com/image/3150436/600full-greg-plitt.jpg

Guy 2: http://media.santabanta.com/newsite/cinemascope/bitimages/sharadmalhotra.jpg

Guy1: is average in intelligence and humor and his talking skills are average at the most, he mostly goes with the stream and doesnt add any creativity

Guy2: is witty and make funny jokes, in many cases read facts and gets elements between the line that others miss, is a good listener and has satisfactory social skills wheter is a club or the sunday lunch meeting.

Which one of these two guys do you think will score more in terms or attention and credit from both men and women?
Which one will be invited to a party or asked to join the following meeting as first?

*Pictures are taken randomly online I dont know any of them

You forgot to add a poll.

The importance of being muscular (aside from health) is that everyone wants to better than the next person. For men, physical domination is a prime way of displaying this. It's why we have sports. Bodybuilding is a sport, just with less games/leagues.

Body building is NOT a real sport give me a freaking break...it takes zero skill just lot's of repetition and a strict diet..and maybe a talent of checking yourself out in the mirror numerous times a day.....a real sport takes skill.

And guys like Jay Cutler are freakin deluded and/or in love with themselves making their bodies look like that...only hardcore sluts and other gay bodybuilders are attracted to that type of crap....

Here's what most people overlook.

What if guy 2 kept his traits and ALSO looked like guy 1 ? Yeah...you can have both. (mind=blown).

This is a stupid topic. As opposed to proffesional sports , which you basically have to start as a kid to have a real shot in the world , getting a body transformation is something literally ANYONE can do in less than 1 year.
Having a good body , a 6pack and whatnot will NEVER do you wrong.

It's an extra bonus. Imagine you're a legit DJ. You spit game like rainbows. Top that off with a smooth body and you'll be every girls' wet dream.

"I really would **** this guy...but that six-pack is just disgusting so I'm not gonna do it. Said no woman , ever."

When I was around 20 or so I caught a bad case of bronchitis. I lost alot of weight, looked at myself in the mirror and decided I really needed to thicken up. So for the next three years I really got into working out. My schedule allowed me to work out twice a day sometimes, and I did. I would go in for weights and then again for cardio on some days. Since then I still try to keep healthy, but am not able to invest anything nearly as much time working out as I once did. As you can imagine 3 years of making exercise a way of life had a very positive impact on my body.

Hands down this is the single best most important thing I ever did for myself besides continuing my education.

I kept alot of the size and muscle since then. I never again was the little skinny guy. I have received countless compliments on my body over the years. You are respected more by men and women alike. Women admire you more. You feel better. You are more capable. You actually look like a man with a little muscle on your bones. I cannot begin to stress the importance of spending some time seriously body building to prepare for the rest of your life. You will keep that muscle for a long time if you do it naturally. And it's pretty fun if you let yourself make a hobby of it. The gym is a great place to meet chicks. After those three years I never really did anything of that magnitude to stay healthy and yet I still look great despite a little gut action my years/beers have blessed me with. Even having a gut is not as bad if you have upper body size/strength to support it.

My advice? hit the gym hard before you reach 21 years old and you will not regret it. It will change your life I promise.

There is no price tag you can put on going to the beach and having some horny little blondie on your coattails because she likes what you look like and wants to get railed by a big guy. NO PRICE TAG...

Well for personal reasons, I like working out and being healthy.

For dating reasons, it gives you more opportunities to talk to girls IMO. Because they notice it and they do look when you are in shape and when you catch them looking is when you casually make your way over to them.

Having a built body signals that you:
  • look after yourself
  • can take up difficult challenges
  • have the discipline to actually achieve an objective
  • appreciate art and aesthetics
  • have at least have some scientific knowledge on how the body works

about half a BILLION women around the world will do ass-to-mouth for $100 a lick, dude. :) Millions will do it for $20 US, too. That is IF you give her an enema, clean her up, and "prep her real good first. That means give her a small toot of coke, put a little coke in her butt, lube her butt real good (inside, with small, then large dildo), use a butt plug and vibrator until she's near orgasm before going up her backside, lube yourself REALLY good before entry, and give her another toot of amyl nitrate near finish-time. :) About 10% of them are young and pretty, too.

You know how I know you're full of it?

2 reasons.

1) You think bodybuilding = roided up IFBB. Do everyone a favor and spend 5 seconds reading: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bodybuilding?s=t

2a) Zero skill and lots of repetition eh? So why do most people who come to the gym and do lots of repetition still look like sh*t?
2b) Skill is developed through repetition. Mechanically, lifting a dumbbell is no different than throwing a football, kicking a soccer ball, shooting a basketball, throwing a punch, etc. It's all deliberate practice.

---

Anyway, this is just another 'looks matter' thread in disguise. Duh.

Primary alpha qualities as attraction cues for women: wealth, fame, status, looks, game.

Studying martial arts for 10 years, ive learnt that just having muscles doesnt really mean anything. I mean the psychology is that a man with muscles gives a woman a sense of security. But in regards to martial arts, someone who is muscularly big does not always win, rather its their downfall, as they focus there training on looking big and strong, which takes away from their speed, technique and over all power.

To me, its not about how big you are, but how hard you can hit.

hahahaha...I am talking about REAL skill...anyone can learn to lift weights properly if they train right and study up or hire a trainer....it takes almost zero talent/skill to do so....don't even compare bodylifting to a real sport such as football, baseball, soccer...or any sport for that matter....and like the above poster mentioned certainly nothing compared to a martial art......look i used to be a gym rat myself and was a bit obsessive about it for a while..but i also wrestled and played football and baseball for fairy long time..you know 3 REAL sports...don't even begin to compare bodybuilding with a sport...it's just not...even Nascar is more of a real sport....only a person who has only done body building would make such an absurd statement...you are sculpting your body and nothing else...it has definite benefits, but it is not a real sport....

being tall and heavily muscled doesn't mean you can hit hard. Bruce Lee was not exactly massive. MEN can't judge how hard you can hit, and power is not the main thing in fighting. So women aren't using real fighting ability as a judge of anything. You can win any fight with just one finger, IF you get it into his eye fast enough.

Bruce Lee was also a show pony and did not compete in any major events as a adult, he was a movie actor and created his own version of kung fu based loosely upon whin chun. It looked good on camera and taught his students basic offensive and defensive maneuvers but it's very easily dismantled in a proper fight where the other guy knows what he's doing.

Why do you think size strength and speed are taught in all sports and combat sports ? Because having greater size greater strength and greater speed all aid in your ability to out maneuver and beat the other guy.

And if you paid any attention to human evolution in biology class you would know that the strong lean muscular build of Cro-Magnon man is the reason why you're here today.
