What is the difference between staring and eye contact?

Yes, I want to know what the difference between staring and eye contact is. Even though I don't think I stare and I do move my eyes around, people still say that I stare. Like I'll be looking at the teacher, nodding my head, than I'll look to the left and look to the right quickly and then focus my eyes back on the teacher or in band, when our band director is talking I'll have my eyes fixed on him, but look around at the other band members, once in a while. I thought by doing that I wasn't staring, but apparently people still think I do stare at them. Something I also want to know is, if your walking through the hall, engaging eye contact with random people, should you hold eye contact with them until they're out of your sight or give them eye contact for a slight second, than break eye contact? This is something I've really been wondering about. So yeah, I want to know the difference between staring, looking and eye contact, some examples of each would be nice.

I dunno, I mean, sometimes I will initiate EC, but most of the time, I will see someone looking my way, and I will aknowlege there prescence. Guess it depends on who it is. I never stare at the teacher, mainly because I don't need to listen, or whatever.

But like I will see a chick or her friend looking, and you really have to notice it, because they do, then you just look there way, just one second after they look away, or maybe a few seconds, you can look away, so you have established yourself, but you aren't starting.

The difference between Sargin and EC:

EC: Eye contact with women, make ec and hold it a sec. longer than they do.

Sarging: Approaching women.

Staring is when you DON'T make eye contact, but are still looking at them.

I think it could also be if you make eye contact with them, but you keep looking after she looks away...for a while.

It's something like that I believe.

Staring is uncomforitable

If you look at them the WHOLE TIME THEY TALK like 20 mins thats staring the woman doens't feel comfortable. But when she looks at you you look at her while she makes a point then look away for a couple moments thats EC.

When your not staring at her eyes waiting for her to look at you. You must be looking around and if you see her look at you then you make eye contact if not try agian.

yeah....definateley have to smile or it is just plain wierd....you can only not smile when you are giving a girl a seductive look, but don't overdo OR attept with a girl you haven't established yourself with (i.e. a girl you havent used C&F/kino on)

in school i sit in whole class looking at teacher the whole time they speak, i dunno how else you can listen well cause my mind wanders too quickly if i dont look at the person, it works against them if they got a cool pattern on their shirt
