What is harder? Playing a sport or picking up girls?

I'm just wondering. What takes more hard work to get good at? Are they comparable?

Picking up girls is definitely harder than sports. But maybe that's just me, physical feats just come naturally to me.

I'd say picking up girls is harder. Sure both can be very hard at the start and have a learning curve. The key difference is that trying to get good a picking up women can affect your confidence, ego and self-esteem in a way that sports never could. It's obvious which one hurts more, missing 10 baskets in a row and getting rejected 10 times in a row.

There also is an amount of fear that is associated with picking up women. Nobody is going to be scared while trying to throw a football for the first time. But you tell an average dude to go talk to a hot girl and he may give you a thousand excuses.

It depends on the sport. Some sports need endurance, some need strategy. It also depends on the type of girl you're trying to pick up. The heavy ones are harder to pick up obviously.

gettting to a very good standard in sports (eg professional level - often your genetics wont help) is harder

My body is very thin and not conducive to sports, so I'd say picking up girls is easier.

Well, if you want to compete professionally in the sports field, then picking up girls would definitely be easier, by a universal margin.

Sports are not nearly as hard as girls. It's easy for me to push my body to the limit. Physical discomfort is temporary and can even be enjoyed. But it seems impossible to push my mind to the limit. The mental discomfort that girls cause seems to last forever, with infinite intensity. Squatting a 1RM for multiple sets, sprinting at 100% capacity, walking all day while carrying heavy weight...it all seems like a joke compared to the pain of getting rejected, insulted or ignored by a girl.

Oh I've reached my post limit for today so I might go read some more of The Lacuna or watch a film.

Two, but they just kind of happened. Like when I play tennis, I don't really know the rules or how the scoring works but sometimes I hit the ball and get lucky. Guys are like sitting on the bench though for any sport, you don't even have to know how to play the game to know how to sit on the bench and just watch it happen. Girls are much harder to pick up than guys, but I suppose I've never really, properly tried 'picking-up' someone.

Sports are way easier. They play by rules.

And they're easier to understand! The pain you get from sports is more enjoyable than the pain you get from a girl turning you down.

Playing a videogame is much easier than both of these because they come with an instruction manual!

If you're a failure at football, you've failed at a sport.
But if you're a failure with women, you've failing at life (or some may look at it that way).

Not to say if you have to be good with women to have a good life, but it's hard to see a life as complete if you haven't had some women in it - unless you're a monk or such.

This is what I feel about my life right now. Not that it's all bad, just feels like something important is missing (and trying to fill it with other things is just a temporary fix).
