what if she says "I need a boyfriend"?

There's this chick, really beautiful girl, in my salsa school. I always bust on her and sometimes we've flirted a bit.
Yesterday our man teacher was busting on our woman teacher, saying that she needs a boyfriend and asking if someone had a brother, cousin or friend for her... he also said that he was thinking to put an advertisement in our salsa forum to find a boyfriend for her...
This chick, who was near me, said that she needs a boyfriend too and the advertisement idea was good... so I busted on her saying that she has no hope in finding one... in a joking tone...
So what? why is she saying that she needs a boyfriend? is she hoping that I have a friend for her? or, simply, is she letting me know that she could be interested in me?
I have also to consider that she has no problem in meeting new guys (she's very pretty), but sometimes she doesn't seem too interested in me too...
What do you think the best next moves are?

nore next move is to invite her out for drinks - coffee, ****tails, dancing - whatever. Then you will finally get your answer and you need not dwell on it any longer.

But I'd like to shift the discussion to something else, something more philosophical...
for you, what could be the reasons a beautiful girl like her is needing a boyfriend? from what she says she has difficulty in finding a boyfriend now, but she's so pretty that she's surely approached by more than one boy every day... is she meeting AFCs only? or she has very high standards?

The reality of this, is that you don't really know this chick very well. The world she choose to expose to you through her words, is not the same world she is actually living in.

My guess is that she is an attention wh0re that has already 2-3 guys in her pocket and always on the lookout out for a bigger better deal.

You're right. it isnt that simple. She doesnt really mean she wants him for her boyfriend. She just stated that she is single, and taking applications, and wants him to apply. It doesnt mean she is psycho and will force him to marry her.

She used the teachers phrase as a vehicle to express her interest. Simple would be her saying "You should ask me out, cuz I think (whatever) about you, and I'd like to take me out, then ravage my naked body."

If she said that out of the blue, it may be a different story. The OP needs to let the Monistat work its magic, then ask her out. Simple.

Ask her out. When I have heard that line it was after she had a bad experience with another boyfriend. Don't overthink it and take action while it is available. Move in for the kill ASAP.

You answered your own question.

You have to make it so she does seem interested in you and she doesn't say "I need a boyfriend" in front of you. Would you say "I need a girlfriend in front of her" even though you really like her? No, because that would mean you don't like her that way.
