What exactly was she trying to do here?

A couple weeks ago, I made a little post about a HB8 in one of my classes (there's a lecture and a discussion) who, to bluntly state it, was being a b!tch. I approached her in my discussion, and ever since she's given off a pretentious vibe. That particular class, she would disagree with whatever I said (even the one time when the TA said I was correct before she stated her rebuttal). Last week, her objective was to try and not talk to me. I asked her if she knew what she planned on writing about for our paper, she basically whispered "I'm not sure, I haven't really thought about it yet" while looking the other way. So, there was only one thing left to do here...NEXT!! :box: If she's going to be pretentious and b!tchy, then she's not worth my time.

So this one is (and has been) over, right? Apparently not. HB8 decided it's time to play games. There are two sets of double-doors that get us into the lecture room. I'm usually one of the earlier ones to get to lecture (so is HB8), and I can tell the class before already let out because two other people just walked into the lecture room for our class. As I approach the first door (I'm 5-10 steps away at this point), HB8 comes from out of nowhere and is about to walk into the lecture room. However, she seemingly can't open the door. She turns back around, and because I was walking that way, I'm the closest one to her. Once we made eye contact, our little convo ended up going like this like this:

TCK: What's up?
HB8: The door must be locked.
TCK: I bet you it isn't.
HB8: oh...I don't know...I must be weak.
TCK: Yeah maybe that's it...watch and learn!
(I go right over to the door and surprise! It's unlocked, I walk right in).
TCK (in a C+F tone): Yeah that was real tough, I bet you the other door is locked too hahaha :crackup: .

That was about the extent of eventful things for the remainder of the class. The discussion section later on was boring, and we weren't in small groups so that was that.

So my question (as the thread title suggests)...what exactly was her objective here? It left my stumped for the rest of the class, and I still don't even know what her game or test or w/e that was meant. You guys have any ideas?

I'm interested to see what your thoughts are on this. If I were to take a guess, I'd say she just wanted some sort attention, even if this is an odd way to go about it. I figure since I'm the only one who has even talked to her in the class, she somehow perfectly timed her act so I'd be the closest one to her when she was "too weak" to open the door.

Of course I could be completely wrong, but if I had to take a guess, this would be it. It's annoying that she was an afterthought in my mind - she is too pretentious and too b!tchy to even acknowledge in class, and it's not worth making the effort to get her to open up or w/e. Now she does antics like this, looking for attention from me. The only positive thing here...she did look particularly good this time.

games like these are fun, play a random game on her but do it well and dont embarass her or make it hurtful in any way.

remember, your just out to have fun with her, not date her or get into a full blown relationship. dont run before you can walk !

Calm down...I had no idea what the heck she was doing, I posted it here just b/c maybe someone would know what this antic was. As for "falling for it," how is that even possible? First off, I don't have interest in her - she's not my type. Second, what am I going to do - sit outside and not go to class because she said the door was locked, only to have most of the other people coming in open the door and walk in? Yeah that's real smart. :nono:

On a more serious note lol, I don't see how this could be - I am interested in hearing your reasoning. I've encountered her in class each week for three weeks, and here's how things have gone:

Week 1...
(HB8 immedately sits down right by me and furiously tries skimming the textbook, even though the TA could care less if we read)
TCK (with a C+F smirk): Hey HB8, did you do the reading, how'd you like it?
HB8: YES I did the reading - why, did you NOT do the reading?
TCK: Whoa...slow down HB8, yes I did the reading, I was just trying to say say hey.
-Later on, we broke into smaller groups, I was working with her. She seemed to only talk after I made a point about something...which she would immediately disagree with (she even seemed happy to correct me on what part of California she lived in). When the whole class got back together, I stated a point, the TA basically said I was right, and then the girl disagrees with me anyway (obviously she was wrong lol).

Week 2...

As we were walking out, HB8 was nearby, so I asked her, "Hey HB8, what paper topic are you thinking of doing?" She looked the other way, and muttered something that sounded like, "I don't know, I haven't really thought about it yet." I also don't think she held the door for me on the way out...I had gone back to grab a newspaper.

And then of course is what she did yesterday. I clearly do not see any signs of interest from her. As far as I know, it will take a lot from her to convince me she is not a pretentious b!tch. I didn't even look at her in discussion yesterday lol.

It doesn't help men mature when they're obsessed with every single little possible scenario, nuance, or detail imaginable.
Most young men somehow revel in drama and figuring things out. Unfortunately, it promotes over analytical and OCD traits, and stunting of masculine maturity.

Honestly if you really next'd her you wouldn't/shouldn't be over-analyzing everything. Chances are the simplest answer is usually the correct one. Go with your gut and follow it.

My reasoning. Man, as the others have said, quit analyzing every little detail over and over and over again. In this post alone you have repeated what happened more than once. Look, it's simple. She was being a *****, even arguing against you AND the TA . . . TO GET YOUR ATTENTION! PERIOD. She pulled the stunt at the door . . . wait for it . . . TO GET YOUR ATTENTION! Man, she . . . wants . . . your . . . attention. Why does that not make sense to you? Why else would she go OUT OF HER WAY to do this stuff? Think about it.

Sounds like you are in love with her since you like talking about her so much and are analyzing everything. That's ok, we all know what it feels like to be in love. Just make sure she feels the same way and keep spinning other plates.
