sigh...

i encounter this kind of thing soooooooooo much on these boards these days. the "do what you want", "it doesn't matter" approach.....

see, problem with this approach is that many guys actually LIKE wearing their yu-gi-oh tshirts, khaki shorts and socks with birkenstocks.

you are not allowing for the fact that your instincts can be very very very wrong depending on who you are.

THEREFORE,

we issue basic recommendations. and we read men's fashioin mags - which would not exist if we didn't want to get laid.

the typical DJ on this website is a cookie cutter prep who buys $300 jeans, bright spotlight yellow polos, and wears flip flops even when it's cold outside (joking..a little)

however, i wear d1ckies pants/levi jeans/lee jeans with solid color shirts with vans or chuck taylors

Clothes, something to do with what girls you are prepared to attract. I used to think that most expensive clothes were the best thing to attract a girl. And doing this I wasnt being myself, I would wear all abercrombie or expensive european brands like FC.UK or Diesel. I now wear clothes that makek me feel comfortable with myself, I wear clothing expressing my music. If that makes anysense, I shop at like pac sun and hot topic for band shirts, and hoodies. I dont totally dress scrubbed out though I wear good fitting clothes, that look nice.

The most important thing, when it comes to appearance, is to look congruent and well kempt.

What brand you buy is of little important if any. The most important thing is how you arrange what you wear - how you match your shirts with your pants, and your shoes with your belt etc. Symmetry = beauty in this world.

My suggestion, to those who do not have a flying clue how to dress, is to find a good looking girl, "befriend" her, and get her to come with you to buy clothes. She will give you excellent opinions and set you on your way.

To those who believe that befriending girls is anti-DJ, keep in mind that you are befriending her solely to get shopping advice, which is of high utility.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Those people are full of hogwash.
If you're befriending them because you want to get into their pants or because you want their opinions on relationships, then yes, that's the road to hell.
However, befriending women in order to acclimate yourself to the female psyche or to get relevant opinions on clothing or self-grooming is a very good move. If you can prove to yourself that you are capable of maintaining an equal footing in any opposite-gender friendship, and that you can carry your own, you've taken a large step towards entering their world as a Trojan Horse

Some of the best clothing tips and fashion awakenings I've ever encountered have been by virtue of talking to my chick friends.
