This is directed mainly toward those who work 8-5. I do, and I only bring snacks to work. For lunches I eat out way too much, which is fattening and expensive.

I need to start bringing my own food to work, but have no idea of what to pack that's lean and healthy (and filling).

What do you guys eat while spending a day on the job?

When you eat out for lunch, fast food options are everywhere - so if you have to eat fast food what do you choose (are 'grilled chicken' sandwiches really less fattening than burgers?)

At my work cafeteria, the company began subsidizing anything purchased from the salad bar, so I can get a big salad for pretty cheap (under $3). So that's an option but their choices are small and I can't eat salad every day!

Thanks for any replies.

Most days I bring some brown rice with boiled vegetables and a piece of grilled meat (chicken or fish).
On days that I don't do that I try to get the healthier fast food choices like Wendy's chili or a Subway chicken breast sub.
I watch other people eating BK and Taco Bell and other greasy crap and I laugh.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

This weekend, go to Target and buy a cooler...the kind you can drape over your shoulder...

After you've shopped Target, go to the grocery store and stock up on 4-packs of tuna, Birdseye Steamfresh frozen veggies, and Uncle Ben's microwave-ready Whole Grain Brown rice. Buy some 4-pack Myoplex containers.

Drink a Myoplex at 1030ish (42 grams protein)

Eat lunch at noonish: Tuna, veggies, brown rice (about 45 grams protein)

Drink another Myoplex at 300ish (42 grams protein)
Nice, honestly though i'd stick with the powdered variety rather than the RTD style. they kinda get nasty after being in the fridge in the store.

if you only bring snacks i'd recommend jerky.

You have double cream (excellent) and yet fear egg yolks?

I'd say about 90% of the time, it's leftovers from stuff I cooked for dinner. Leftovers are king. When you utilize all food you buy and cook, that dollar stretches much longer. So basically my lunches are mimics of my dinners. Simple...meat, veggies, beans or brown rice.

I rarely eat out...it's a waste of money and you don't know what you're getting, nutrition-wise, for the most part.

Like Espi said, I have a lunch-bag cooler I use all the time. I pack fruits, nuts and my lunch, and usually one small in between meal. If you eat 5 or 6 times a day there is absolutely no need to get fancy.

The egg white is powdered and I loads of the stuff so I'm trying to use it up. Breakfast is usually a pint of raw eggs so no, I don't fear the yolk.
