Without a doubt, the easiest way to beat those times is to simply keep busy. As the saying goes, idle hands are work of the devil, or something like that. If you're busy, you have no time to think about how crappy your life is, or is not. Depending on how much time you have to kill, read a book, find a hobby, get a part-time job. It's also proven that working out helps self-esteem; join a gym.
While I was never really depressed or anything, I always had those good and bad days; I think everyone does. However, for about 3 months now, I've been at work full-time and school full-time, and damn, I value every free minute I can get. I'm not worried about petty stuff or women or any BS; I'm worried about getting time for homework and enough sleep to get back to work.
But you know what? Even though I've had significantly less time to go out and be social, I've had more success with women than I typically do.
