What actually defines a "cougar"?

It's obviously subjective but I'd generally say the woman has to be over 30 and the man has to be under 30, with at least a 10 year age gap.

I feel that the 20s thing is a bit dicey since tons of early thirties guys can easily pass for twenties and plus, late twenties and early thirties are kind of the same for me. IMO, either let it be 21 and younger for a guy or else not much to differentiate other than drinking and being allowed into bars. Then again, I don't write these rules haha.

I see. From my observations, it differs on quality too. It seems like more of the uglier cougars try to play up more to the porn memes of old woman chasing college kid. The better looking ones just want the hottest piece of whatever they can get their hands on, to them, 10 years younger is young. Then again, I don't think people ever specify when they say cougars chase young guys and it seems like "young" is super subjective in American society.

If the guy is 18-19 that would be even more cougar.

Whereas the woman has to be old enough to qualify as an older woman. (A 29 year old woman dating a 20 year old man is probably not going to be considered a cougar)

I agree. An attractive 25 year old woman with a child is a MILF. When most people think of MILFs, it is women over 30 though.
