OK i admit i've yet to finish the bible but i have to know, what about chivalry? Of course you are the main part of any kind of relationship wether it be str or ltr, but i've personally always used the code behind chivalry...and no i don't mean being a nice guy i know the thin line between the two....just looking for some DJ input, of an ps don't insult me if this is a dumb question i just had to ask it.

Here's the deal with chivalry: It went out with the Dark Ages.

Treating someone with reverence just because they're a female is a fundamentally harebrained idea.

Instead, do anti-chivalry.

Like, instead of opening doors for her, run through it quick then hold it closed so she can't get through.

Or, pull out a chair, and when's she's about to sit down, pull it aside and sit in it yourself. Say "What, you thought that was for you?":D

there's a difference between a nice guy and a gentleman

I still like basic chivalry such as holding doors open and what not. The key is to do it casually. Don't go out of your way to be chivalrous. Ie, don't run to the door to open it; don't hold it open for someone who's 10 steps behind you....
If it's convenient, be chivalrous.

What works best is to be chivalrous to a girl, BUT still bust her balls. The contradiction confuses the hell out of girls... and they love it :)

That's not a way of life, that's C&F. Guys on this board seem to have the idea that they're not AFC because they make an effort to treat girls like crap. AFC isn't a set of actions, it's a state of mind. When you're consciously being someone you're not (i.e. being a jerk on purpose because it makes you "cool"), you're not different than any AFC who buys flowers and writes her poems...you're going out of your way to try and make her like you. Here's a thought...DO WHAT YOU WANT. If you want to open a door for the girl because that's how you were raised, and you believe it to be a common courtesy, go ahead. If you want to pull out her chair, be my guest. Do it because you do it naturally. Being a jerk and being an AFC are the same thing...you're putting on an act to try and get a girl's attention. Why not just be a man, do what you feel is right, and what you want to do? A real man doesn't need acts and games to attract a woman, because they're busy fighting over him.

ok, this is exactly what i do anyhow so if soeloifter is correct than i am on the right track, which explains why i do get a few of the girls lol

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

holding a door for a woman is very effective, but when used sparingly simply because woman aren't used to having that done to them, so if they'll appreciate it. But don't do it too often.
