"we're going just as friends right?"

I got this line last night. I answered with a "well, yeah" with a voice tone suggesting I was surprised she was worried I was thinking something different. Is that how I should have played it??

I've been going with the attitude of "I just want to have a fun time, and you'll see how fun I am, and if you like me that's great, and if you don't, that's great too cause then I can go look for more chicks"

I wouldn't turn her away, but I've been taking the attitude of she's only practice, so I'm going to go out and bust her balls and see what happens anyways.

How do you guys handle the "we're going just as friends right?" line??

Any suggestions or advice welcome

Will

I would've tried to used a line to set-up for the rest of the night. For example:
HB:"We're just going as friends right?
Will: (gasp) so our marriage doesn't mean anything to you? We are soo divorced (smile)

Then for the rest of the night you talk about being divorced or getting married.

IE:
At the party or wherever you go:
HB:Can you buy me a beer Will?
Will: No way HB? YOU still owe me money from the pre-nup (smile)
HB: (smile) Oh well, how about I get you a beer then?
Will: Yea, my kind of women, we are SOO getting married, do you have a rich father or something just in case things don't work out?....

This is a spinoff of method I first heard from Tyler Durden and it works. It allows you to do many things at once. In this example:
1)You didn't supplicate and buy her a beer
2) You were C&F with your subject matter and constant poking fun at what she said earlier
3)You "pushed and pulled" her through states. (Made her engage her limbic brain)She doesn't know if your are for real or just joking
4) You eased the tension in your minds of where the relationship is/is going

we're going just as friends right?"
*Shudder* She used the words 'just' and 'friend' in the same sentence;)

Well unless you want to be her friend time to ramp up the C+F I think, looks like you're facing a bit of an uphill battle for the get go though.

More info please.

Did you just meet this girl?

Is this the first time out with her?

What exactly did you say when you invited her out?

Where are you going?

Although her saying "we're going just as friends right?"
doesn't sound to promising.

I have told more than one chick, that I have enough friends and that im not really looking to make new ones. I say this flat out, and unapologetically. Sometimes it works in my favor sometimes it doesn't. Be straight forward and blunt, increase the ****y and funny, hope this helps.

Turn the tables on her.

Her: We're going as just friends right?

You: Whoah... easy there. I don't think we're at that level yet. I've only known you for X amount of months, and it takes a while before I call someone a friend.

Microphone and dont'mindme. Great come backs. go to remember those.

But, that would kind of throw you off when a chick just comes out and says 'just friends".

I've had it with any kind of friend comment a girl tosses at me. I've resigned that if a girl ever again says to me "we're just going as friends" or "we're just friends" or any kind of variation here in, I am just going to hang up, get up and walk out, or if we are already out I will end the night and bring her home. Why? Becuase I don't want friends that are girls unless I am the one who made them into a friend! I really don't feel like wasting the time, money, or energy at that point if friend is the only option there is. Ive had this plan ready for months but have thankfully not had to use it yet!

I think I read this comeback somewhere

"... hey, if you want anything else, you'll have to prove yourself first..." ;)

"We're going out just as friends, right?"

Answers:
"It all depends on how quick I can get in your pants."

"No, more like a brother and sister thing... brother and sister from Westfer Virginyay."

"Oh hell yes, I hope no one thinks I'm dating you."

"You know, you're a b*tch!" :)

"If I wanted friends, I'll go to Big Brothers."

"Sure, I'm getting really used to this type of crap from you. :) "

"I don't like your damn attitude.... come here! I'm going to spank you!!"

"Why, are you gay or something?"

"Wow! ..whew.... I'm sooo glad you suggest that! Wheeew!! hehe... so long as I don't have to f*ck ya... whew!"

A couple things can be happening here when you get tossed this line.

She could be communicating to you that you should be a good boy and be the AFC gentleman. You may detect a certain--I'm not quite sure the exact word to use here--a certain patronizing or dismissiveness from her, as you'll feel like the little kid brother who's being told to be good in public.

Another reason for this is that she is quite interested but can't handle the tension. So she's going to preempt everything and go for the safe route by getting "this is a friend's thing" handled up front before anything else comes up. This is a pre-emptive strike and you may detect that dismissiveness thing, but you'll also notice how uneasy, nervous or gotta-handle-business-before-it-handles-you air that she'll have.

I like the C&F replies, I think you have to shoot it right back at her. Then treat her like a friend when you go out. She does not get any special attention--you can leave her at the door and go enjoy the party and mix it up with every other girl. Then see what the game is when you go get her to drop her off at home!

One other thing you could try, is to get into full DJ mack mode on her. Start being the life of the party, dance with everyone but her, have fun with everyone but her, party and have fun with every chick but her, get numbers right in her face and when she asks, which I guarantee she will, why you arent paying her any attention, say" didn't you say you just wanted to be friends?
