You know, I was thinking about this while I was watching Batman Begin the other night and it made me think of all the
" weird" stuff Bruce Wayne had to go through to conquer his fears and become Batman like travel the world, go to the freakin Himalayas just to become a more enlightened person and seek his purpose in life. I dunno, it made me think of the " weird" things people do to get confidence and sense of peace about themselves. Sort of like Phil Jackson bringing his zen philosophy and making his players do Yoga or something in that manner.

Here are a couple of examples, I thought of:

( 1.) Go to Tibet and become a Shaolin Monk.

-I pick up this new book that I'm reading and there's this dude who was from NY and he went to Tibet to become a Shaolin Monk to make peace with his horrible past. Not a bad book by the way.

(2.) Go to the wilderness and spend five months there by yourself.

- Hey, this isn't such a bad idea, you can come out of this a better man because this will build self reliance upon yourself emotionally and physically.

(3.) Take up meditation, yoga, tai- chi and try learning a martial arts.

Meditation is great, it will clear your mind and learning martial arts builds emotional and physical discipline to an individual.

(4.) Go Sky diving and moutain climbing.

I never tried this, but it's probably a great way to build up some testosterones.

(5.) Wake up early in the morning and go jogging by yourself.

Done this a couple of times, it's an enlightening way to start your day. I live in a small town so I'm jogging all by myself just enjoying the solitude before the sun rises.

Well, that's about it. Does anybody else have any " weird" methods that they use ? Feel free to share with us.

You live in South Padre Island. The only thing I'd need to cleanse my soul there would be a case of beer and a video camera.

By the way, AE.

sticking with ways that you think is practical is a way of setting up barriers for the broad potential of your own mind.

im just saying #1 and 2 are very impractical because becoming a shaolin monk i believe takes a loooong time and not anybody can do it, and how many people do you know that knows how to survive in the wilderness for more than a couple of weeks?

I've started taking Tai Chi and Kung Fu a few months ago and I love it. It helps me find balance because most of the time I am adapting to chaos. Meditating is a great way to get in touch with your higher self.

Scuba diving. Whenever I get underwater, it's a different world. You can't zone out though, since you have to pay attention to things like how much time you spend down and how fast you're consuming air. But there is a Zen quality to it and I always feel at peace while I'm diving. None of my problems or issues bother me when I'm underwater.
