wrestling is one of those sports that you need to make weight requirments. There is about 1 month left untill the season starts and i need to lose about 6 pounds. Now you might think that might be easy but i am already a pretty skinny guy. 5'6 118 pounds. What is the healthiest way to do this and still have enough energy for matches?

Don't the practices start around the end of this month? I wrestled for 4 years in high school and always started the season about 14 lbs heavy. After a few weeks of practice and only dieting during the week before a match I'd make weight.

You'll lose water weight, fat and some muscle during the practices, so you shouldn't have a problem making weight. Also, there are methods of making weight that aren't so glamorous such as eating 1 bagel for breakfast 1 bagel for lunch and nothing but popcorn for dinner, drinking only a 1 liter of water the day before and just a few sips the day of a match, etc. you get the idea.

I typically would binge after the Wednesday matches. I'd balloon up to 165 by Sunday night and cut water and food until I made weight for the next Wednesday match. I was ranked 4th in Arizona at the 152lbs. weight class in the 5A division (largest division in AZ). Immediately after I'd make weight, I'd drink an ULTRA Feul and a HYDRA Feul. Then, I'd drink a bunch of water. Man, by the time my weight class came around, my muscles would be puffed out to the max with all the carbs and water.

Now that there are pro-hormones out on the market, I'd try to get some of them if I were you. I think 1-test is like Boldenone (a steroid that doesn't cause you to retain water). I'd start taking it at the beginning of the season and not stop until the season was over. It'll make you stronger than ****, give you 100% more energy, allow you to recover faster and make you extremely aggressive - perfect for wrestling! If you do chose to take a pro-hormone, then continue it throughout the season - Don't stop taking it!! If you do, then you'll feel like **** and be weak as hell for the rest of the season. Another thing... stay away from creatine - bad **** for your kidneys if you try to lose water weight.

These are only suggestions.

Good Luck!

One tip, do not crahs diet. It slows down your metabolic rate. Cause when you start eating normal again, you gain weight quicker.(No matter how big or small you are) Just start slowly eating less and less. Also before matches I would literaly piss my brains out and could lose up to 3 pounds.

Btw, I use to wrestle 275 in my state. But now if I stay the way I am, I won't have to worry about wiegh ins, cause I would have no problem making weight.

keep working out as you are now, trying to gain strength without weight.

within 3 days of weighins, dont eat any carbs. Eat 6 times per day for those 3 days, and only fat and protein meals. The carbs in your body will be flushed out, along with all the water they hold.

the only thing that will mess this up is if you have a high salt intake these 3 days, cuz then you will retain water as well.

just eat zero carbs for those 3 days, and you will drop at least 6 lbs.

I have never wrestled, but I am a 200 lb. distance runner so I might have some tips. Keep a good healthy diet with lots of protein. If you want to lose weight without losing strength you need to do some cardio. You could try distance like I do, but in your case it would probably be better to do very high intensity cardio for 20 minutes. If the weight isn't coming off fast enough do the cardio in the once in the morning and once in the afternoon, or even three times daily. Drink at least 1-2 gallons of water daily (I drink 2-3).

If you are in high school though, not all of this will be possible. Some also might people say this could lead to overtraining, but I guarantee you will keep more strength than with no carbs and low water.
