Fellas, some of you no doubt possess advanced levels of nutritional knowledge, but I sincerely feel that you are complicating bulking.

You don't need much knowledge to gain weight.

Gaining weight comes down to one undisputable truth:

Consume more calories than you burn.

That's it.

That is all one has to do to gain weight...provided, of course, he consumes the right type of calories (protein, carbs, fat) at the right times (every 3 hours, generally speaking) and combines a strength traning program.

No offense, but acidity levels in meat, pytochemicals in vegatables, antioxidants in minerals, etc. etc. etc. make gaining weight harder than it should be.

Let's just keep it simple.

Sure, knowledge is good, but acidity, pytochemicals, and antioxidants ain't gonna help me bulk, which is the orginal poster's request.
Absolutely. You don't need all that stuff to bulk. But, it defiantly won't hinder bulking. It will probably help considering recovery.

You don't need advanced knowledge to eat fruits and vegetables.

I agree with the keeping it simple ,squat, deadlift, bench, EAT. I just can't personally relate to not eating veggies and having veggies hinder me from reaching my cal total and i'm consuming 4500-5000cals a day at this point. I always have room for them and look forward to my salad with italian dressing after my protein and carbs.

I don't believe oatmeal is particularly healthy either.

Oatmeal is the most common food allergen. It comes from the grass family after all.

In 2001 I ran blood work on every single one of my clients using six different labs. Oatmeal always came out as the most frequent food allergen. It can raise cortisol and lead to the storage of fat in the abdominal area.

I'm anti-oatmeal, especially for Caucasians. Quinoa may be a better choice.

There is a reason grass foods are not healthy. Cave man would not be bothered to gather thousands of grains when he could just kill a cow or eat a whole tomato. Only when Agriculture started were we able to harvest grains. Which is why Asians can handle grains just fine. They were the first ones to harvest grains and their digestive system has had time to evolve.

Fuc'k! I've been downing this oatmeal with a big smile on my face. So what's another good carb source then.

Is that the only source claiming oatmeal isn't good for you and leads to fat "in the abdominal area"?

Wait, the whole piece he wrote about it seemed to be more about carbs in general, not just oatmeal. Since you need carbs to bulk, I'm still not convinced oatmeal is bad.

You need little carbs to bulk if you know how. He was talking about allergies with oats.
