Waiting three days to call a classmate?

The rule of thumb here is that a person should not call a chick whose number he got until three days after he got it. My question is does the rule vary for women that you have class with each week? I got a chick's number this Monday and have class with her every Monday. Tonight would be when I should call, given the "3 day rule" but I am debating whether to do so and set-up a formal date for this weekend or keep it cool until I see her Monday and nonchalantly ask her out to dinner after class. The idea behind that is that she would be more willing to do something that isn't a "formal" date, if you will, at this stage. What do experienced DJ's think about this?

What would be the best way to proceed now? Ask her out to dinner after class, ask her out for Valentine's Day, or ask her for a date for this Friday?

IMO, there is no general rule of thumb. Call when you feel like it!
However dont call too early(desperate) like the same day. or call too late (she'll think your not interested).

in your case i would call her 2 days after the day you # closed.
All phone convos should be kept light, remember the phone is used to set dates.

Rules are there as GUIDELINES.

Think about it this way bro. If this girl is truely into you, then she's not going to care if you called 2 days after or 4 days after, she's going to be anticipating your phone call and make damn sure that she answers when you call.

Secondly, the fact that she's in your class does change things a bit, but you only see her once a week. So I would've called her on Sunday, set up a date and then flirted with her the next day in class to build up the anticipation.

And you can't be serious about going to dinner? Do something fun and interview the fuvk outta her so you can figure out if she's worth your time.

I am right outside DC in Alexandria, VA. Would a Saturday at a museum be a good idea???

BTW, the dinner thing sounded weird to me too but it worked for my roomate. Of course, there are always exceptions.

(Former DC resident here)

Do either the American History museum or the Air & Space museum -- both of those have more actual items displayed that can generate conversation, beyond the stuff most people see in museums.

If you're looking for a day/night doubleheader, check to see if anyone good is playing the 9:30 club. That's a fantastic time out.

Thanks. I personally prefer the American History one but a large group of us has already planned to go to the Air and Space museum. I am debating whether to go with the group or go to the American History one so we can be completely alone. Complicating matters is the fact that I was the chief organizer of the Air and Space trip, along with my roomate.

Would a trip to a museum make a good first date, though?

For the record, I am interning in DC. The large group is a group of interns. I want to have a series of events that allow interns to meet other interns and that is one of our early events. She is also an intern.

Edit: The Veronicas are playing this Saturday. Are they any good?

Update: I called her twice yesterday but she didn't pick up. I left a voicemail and she did not respond to it. I called her about 20 minutes ago and again she did not pick up. WTF happened??? She showed extremely high interest before (unless she is an attention *****!). What changed? Is this just a tough test of my interest, given the long delay in me calling? Was not calling her for a week really that big a deal??? Is there any chance in hell of salvaging something from this? Anything I can do during or after class???

That sux man. She didnt answer at all. Waiting a week is a long time, but I dunno the circumstances of your situation. Classmates I think are the toughest man. I always obsess with girls in my classes, I've approached a few and its always screwy...like its not supposed to happen. My only advice to you is be real enthusiastic the next time you see her, say whatsup, dont mention the phone call at all.

I totally agree. I usually call the next day.
