For as long as I have known, I've had problems projecting my voice. I would say something and a lot of the time, be seemingly ignored. This was because I had weak voice projection. Recently I was at a concert and near a speaker talking with my friends. When I opened my mouth to speak, I knew what I was saying but nothing would come out. My voice just seems to fade into the sound. I was standing barely 2-3 feet away from my friend and i couldn't project at all. (I was near a speaker btw) I realize that if i can't project from that distance how am i going to project my voice in a club when talking to a girl? So i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips/exercises on voice projection and how to project your voice over a loud environment. Thanks.

I am actually reading Senor Finger's post about projection

http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37707&highlight=projection for anyone who is interested

but other tips would be helpful, i did try his method but it didn't seem to work for me, however i'm gonna give it another go

Couple years ago, I bought a karaoke systems. I still having fun with till today. All my friends love it especially the girls. They always turn it on and sing their heart out when they come over.

It's a little expensive though.

Crank up the volume in your car, then practice speaking over it. Your throat will get sore/dry at first, but with time it'll improve and become easier to do this.

maybe you need more resonance-- not volume.

Learn to breath properly: in through the nose and into the belly. Now say HI.

Basically, it means give a bigger sound. In musical instruments, usualy the bigger the body of an instrument, the deeper the tone. This tone is usually percieved as being louder or at least more clear. The Violin produces a much higher tone than the bass mainly from the size of the instrument. The bigger the instrument, the larger the sonic wavelength can be. Their are other factors involved as well.

To speak with resonance, you need to talk from the largest part of your voice, The chest. You will speak slower and deeper, but it will have an extra quality if you do it right.

ditto the previous poster....

Just listen to yourself talk, pay attention to the vibration that comes from your throat and upper chest. Try to intensify that vibration, the more vibration the more resonance.

The same is for instruments, in legit sax playing I use to use a copper neck because it vibrated for and created a more complex sound.

Be careful not to strain your voice while working on resonance.
