As the topic implies, post songs or song lyrics here that have helped you get over a break-up. I've got a bunch, but I'll start with this one.

It's "Greetings Goodbye" by Glasseater

This is me saying goodbye to you
From this day forward I won't think about you
This is me placing a mental blanket over our times together

Goodbye to you goodbye to us
If somehow our lives intersect in the future fate will decide the outcome

It has to be this way
A selfish way to act
But it's my only remedy in dealing with you
So I'll use this pen and it's insides to conjure the thought of you one more time

So here I leave you with goodbye
The memories of you will end and be cast away
As the ink from this tool of my thoughts runs out
I'm saying goodbye

You had these beautiful eyes and the way you carried yourself
You made the impossible possible
You opened my heart and shine light on the darkness I fell for you

You can't just break me in two

Goodbye to you.

"Let Goodbye Hurt" by Suzy Bogguss.

If you get past the fact that she's a "country" singer, her voice is incredibly smooth, clear, bright and expressive.

Haha, Dust 2 Dust, those first two are great, especially the Gwar one. So childish, yet so funny  . The Slayer song... I'm not sure how that one relates to relationships at all.

Low Plains Drifter, I wish I'd found that song about a year ago. "Let goodbye hurt like it should." Ah, too true.

Haha, I didn't think of "Whatever".

I'm doin' the best I ever did,
Now go away!!

And SR71's "Right Now"

Why you always kick me when I'm high
Knock me down till we see eye to eye
Figured her out I know she
May not be Miss Right but she'll do right now

I used to hang on every word
Each lie was more absurd
Kept me so insecure
But now that's over

She taught me how to trust
And to believe in us
And then she taught me how to cuss ... that *****!
It's over

I used to be such a nice boy

GREAT stuff. I almost forgot about that song, very cool.

Huh? This song seems more like it would make a one-itus STRONGER!

However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I will always love you

Next up on my personal list is "Tears In a Vial" by Megadeth. This song personally helped me a lot.

This may seem all too confusing
How I could walk away from something so rare
But you see it got too demanding, yeah
And I just didn't care, I just didn't care, if I cared, if I cared

Lately, I've been left wanting, but not wanting you
Attraction that once was is no longer there, ooh
And it sucks to be taken for granted
When the veil is drawn so there is only air

I had to walk away
Give up something I love
For what I loved even more
And save my tears for you
[Solo - Mustaine]

Everything has lost its meaning; I had to let it go
To find myself, myself, and start something new, brand new
Forced to look deep in the mirror, face who I really am
Now its just me, cause I can't afford you

I had to walk away
Give up something I love
For what I loved even more
And save my tears for you

I gave up something I love
For what I loved even more
And save my tears for you
In a vial and walked away

[Solo - Mustaine]
[Solo - Poland]

You were so beautiful to look upon
I could see the light in your smile
Your eyes were the windows into your soul
Your body was heavenly just like the sky
[Solo - Mustaine]

Until all your good looks betrayed you, which wasn't much
Counted on your counterfeit smiles for too long
Your eyes are empty windows, broken
The body may be here but the soul is gone

I saved my tears in a vial
From everything wicked that you did, that you said
To send away, buried with your love
So many tears in a vial, now that you're gone, and now that you're dead

Superman by Eminem.....

They call me Superman
Leap tall hoes in a single bound
I'm single now
Got no ring on this finger now
I'll never let another chick bring me down
In a relationship save it *****, babysit? you make me sick
Superman aint savin ****, girl you can jump on shady's ****
Straight from the hip, cut to the chase
I'll tell a mo'****in slut to her face
Play no games, say no names, ever since I broke up with what's her face
I'm a different man, kiss my ass, kiss my lips, ***** why ask?
Kiss my ****, hit my cash, i'd rather have you whip my ass
Don't put out? i'll put you out
Won't get out? i'll push you out
Puss blew out, poppin ****
Wouldn't piss on fire to put you out
Am I too nice? buy you ice
***** if you died, wouldn't buy you life
What you tryin to be, my new wife?
What you Mariah? fly through twice
But I do know one thing though
*****es they come, they go
Saturday through sunday monday
Monday through sunday yo
Maybe i'll love you one day
Maybe we'll someday grow
Till then just sit your drunk ass on that ****in runway hoe...

AND THE 2ND VERSE:

Don't get me wrong
I love these hoes
It's no secret
Everybody knows
Yeah we ****ed
***** so what?
That's about as far as your buddy goes
We'll be friends
I'll call you again,
I'll chase you around every bar you attend
Never know what kind of car i'll be in
[Woman Screaming]
We'll see how much you'll be partying then
You don't want that
Neither do I
I don't wanna flip when I see you with guys
Too much pride
Between you and I
Not a jealous man, but females lie
But I guess that's just what sluts do
How could it ever be just us two?
Never loved you enough to trust you
We just met and I just ****ed you
But I do know one thing though
*****es they come they go
Saturday through Sunday monday
Monday through Sunday yo
Maybe I'll love you one day
Maybe we'll someday grow
'Till then just sit your drunk ass on that ****in runway hoe...

I THINK THIS SAYS IT ALL REALLY !!

Definitely in my top 10, Dimallio. Probably the best hip-hop anti-one-itus song I've listened to.

Chicago - If You Leave Me Now

If you leave me now, you’ll take away the biggest part of me
No baby please don’t go
If you leave me now, you’ll take away the very heart of me
No baby please don’t go

A love like ours is love that’s hard to find
How could we let it slip away
We’ve come too far to leave it all behind
How could we end it all this way
When tomorrow comes we’ll both regret
Things we said

Not bad for an old fart, huh?

"Whatever" was my theme song after a LTR from a few years back, it got me pumped when sarging. Both that and "Smack My B1tch Up" gets me into my ****y/confident mode when going out clubbing.

Dude, how can you get over it when listening to songs like this? I'd think you'd be wallowing in your own self pitty when listening to it.

Audioslave - What you are

And when you wanted me
I came to you
And when you wanted someone else
I withdrew
And when you asked for light
I set myself on fire
And if I go far away I know
You'll find another slave

(chorus)
Cause now I'm free from what you want
Now I'm free from what you need
Now I'm free from what you are

And when you wanted blood
I cut my veins
And when you wanted love
I bled myself again
Now that I've had my fill of you
I'll give you up forever
And here I go far away
I know you'll find another slave

(chorus)
Cause now I'm free from what you want
Now I'm free from what you need
Now I'm free from what you are

Then a vision came to me
When you came along
I gave you everything
But then you wanted more

Make a recording of you fvcking ten other women, mix it up nice, maybe add a thumping backbeat. Should do the trick.

Nah, the type of emotion the songs invoke in each person will vary. Personally, when I listen to these types of songs, I get a desire to improve myself and I'm reminded of why I left the girl or situation.

Excellent! I remember listening to that one often in 2002.

Alright man, the sarcasm's not needed. I get your point, but that advice is played out. Obviously, the reason why the guy with one-itus ISN'T "fvcking ten other women" is because his mind's in a place where he's still clinging to the past, still clinging to the hope that his oneitus will come back to him. These songs are intended to help people break with the past and move on.

It wasn't sarcasm. "Return of the Mack" and "Revolving Door" are two songs that are good for this, but nothing beats another woman screaming your name.
