My point is LEGALLY, from pedophiles to statuatory "rapists," they are simply all labelled "sex offenders" with no distinction made (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I believe that's why there are so many registered sex offenders - the majority are simply 20-30-something dudes who had sex with teenage minors - but not "pedophiles."

Again, someone correct me on the wrong, as I don't know the actual stats...

to the general public, a letter is sent when a sexual offender moves into your area but its pretty vague.

have you ever seen a sexual offender listing for your state?
it lists counties and the names in abc order, including their registered address and other information. some states even list the actual crimes they were charged with. other states you must run a police report on the individual to see the crimes. the crime might be sex with a minor, it might be 1st degree rape, it might be 1st degree sodimy and it might just be sexual harrassment.

i could personally not give a rats a$$ about a 19 yr old sleeping with his 15 yr old girlfriend. sure shes young, but so is he.
the whole point i was getting at were grown men who rape and/ or murder innocent children like the fella in the link i posted. should he deserve to get his forehead branded and tattooed unwillingly so the general public can see it, so that he must be reminded of the child he abused and killed? should others be forced to have the same fate? is this going to help anything?

ive heard that drunk drivers must carry a picture of their victims in their wallets forever as part of their punishment...

Well, I've seen "sex offender" registries on the net - and seem to recall very little info on their crime listed - except possibly the age of the victim.

And in MOST cases, it did seem she was just a teenager just under the age of consent. NOT "pedophilia" per se. Been a while since I looked, could be a bit fuzzy on this though...

Maybe someone can post an online registry here as a sample?

Bingo...the Government needs to start opening federally funded public drug rehab facilities instead of building new prisons. Get the prisoners addicted to substances whose crimes are drug/alcohol related out of the prisons and put them in rehab and lock up the freaking sex offenders.

I don't see lot of drug addicts in Saudi Arabia or Turkey.

They list VERY little in some states. Sometimes is very hard to know the reason he/she is an offender. For all I know could be an 18 year old kid having "consentual" sex with a 15 year old kid.
