I`m a huge MMA fan! I watch both PRIDE and UFC. My fav fighters are...

- Fedor Emelianenko (PRIDE HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMP!) 27-1
- Rampage Jackson (PRIDE/UFC) owned chuck liddel lol and his bodyslam is awesome!
- Tito Ortiz (UFC) He`s so badass, killed ken shamrock... 3 times! His next fight against Evans is gonna be a war.

I can`t wait for UFC 73 stacked or somethin it`s gonna be HUGE!

I always loved Maurice Smith back in the day. Anybody remember him? He was the 40 year old over the hill kickboxer who came in and beat some great grapplers to win the UFC heavyweight title. Beautiful to watch (some kickboxing stuff):

Not long ago, I watched a guy named Saliveri who was just as awesome, and it turns out Smith was his trainer.

Does anyone know who all has been trained by Maurice Smith?

I can't seem to figure that out from UFC.com. Plus, does anyone know where to find fight videos/highlight reels? Youtube is getting pretty sparse.

Lately I've kind of been wondering what professional wrestling would be like if it wasn't all just staged. I'd love to see one of these real MMA fighters go into the ring against three so-called "Wrestling World Champions" and show them the difference between good fighting and bad acting.

it's still mostly jusst acting. when guys who caan REALLY kick, etc, go into the ring, it's OVER in a few seconds, and somebody is maimed for life. Fans won't PAY to see that, much, anyway, so it all has to be stretched out for several minutes (most of the time, at least). So it's bs, acting, for themost part.

It's not acting. I don't know anybody famous, but training partners of mine have fought on at least the undercards of UFC and strikeforce shows. And they are no actors. I have also sold many thousands of tickets in person at amateur events. Not one person has ever complained that a fight was not real. We actually do a lot to conceal the level of violence when it gets ugly; it is supposed to be an all-ages show.

Regarding the "real kick" theory, there are still plenty of winner-take-all cash tournaments. $10k is common, which is not bad for a weekend's work. But Mr Miagi-looking little old men never show up and win that money by doing "real kicks," which is evidence that such a thing does not exist. I do not doubt that there are some little old Japanese men out there who can beat up UFC fighters in a street fight, but they would have to do eye-pokes, crotch kicks, and single digit manipulations in order to win.

LOL my friend fought Diego Saraiva down at Wild Bill's Fight Night in Atlanta. He ended up opening his own gym in SC.

bs, I've seen guys in Korea that those stumblebums on UFC could never TOUCH. there's a reason kicks to groin, knee, while a man is down, etc, are not allowed. :) Ditto why you can't use a descending elbow, bite, gouge, etc. it's all intended to protect the fighters and make the match last longer. I never see REAL strikes at collarbone, floating ribs, etc, cause the guys obviously have agreements not to take each other out of the ring for months at a time. it's BAD acting, but it's still an act, most of the time.
