What's with the pointless flaming and off-topic posts? Some people need to chill the **** out.

Back to Troy... I hope I'll be able to go see it as soon as finals are over, but I'm going to approach it as a movie that has nothing to do with the original Iliad, because many many things were changed, or so I've read.

alright... first of all..i understand everyone is pumped about how cool achilles was.. but why in the world is he a dj? why is someone getting a girl suddenly a dj? when you start ascribing this status to any man who is doing something "alpha like" , you are just deluding yourself...

i've myself used to do it. i would look at every little thing the character would do and try to make it look like a dj alpha thing... where, the truth is.. It is a man living his life.

I loved Achilles, but not just becuase he was the greatest fighter, but becuase he did learn from all this, and found himself. I loved Hector becuase he kept his word and protected the things he loved until his last breath. I loved Paris for his courage to fall in love with the woman he knew he had almost no chance of having... but he made it work.

Stop trying to look for specific things that make you go "OMG. he is such a dj, he just asked this girl to hold hands!" and just enjoy the characters.. ;) :p

lil bit of mild spoilers below....

i enjoyed troy, although i wish hector and achilles would live. they should have united and overthrew the corrupted kings. (im sure there were many more). I do not like the whole hollywood "the person who is right is the one noone listens to".. come on now, twice in the movie, both sons are right, father goes with general's opinions...

paris fighting helena's ex husband... come on, please do something more than get your ass kicked?

great movie. go see it.

Rented the movie on DVD yesterday and that statment couldn't be more wrong. Hector was both a prince and the commander of the army. He was the second best fighter in the land next to Achillies. He was not tied down! he choose well, his wife was a beautiful, loving nurturing woman who gave him a son. He loved both of them deeply and would have done anything to protect them. He believe in himself, honor and family he never strayed from the path. He had a peace of mind, something Achillies couldn't achieve. Being a DJ is not all about bedding women left and right and having the courage of a lion. There is more to it, much more.

Have you made it out to Rehab yet young man?! If you haven't there's still a great deal of time left. I was there last weekend and even though it sounds impossible, this year is actually better then last year in terms of hot girls strutting around half naked. Hope you've at least THOUGHT about going.

Nope haven't yet.... I've had a pretty crazy summer so far and i'm goin out of town so i'm going to have to wait a few more weeks. It's freakin hard tryin to get my friends to go. "Swimming's gay", "I want to play video games all day" and other assorted crap comes outa their mouths so i have a feeling ill end up going alone when i get back in town. Haha can't wait to get out of this heat to go surfing!

Platonically of course.

I respected Paris the least, he made the most afc move in the whole movie; he was willing to sacrifice the safety of his country for a women, his wimpyness ended his brothers life.

Hector- was my favorite character, f**k being a DJ, he was a real man, protected his country, his ppl, and his wimpy brother to the end. Unlike wimpy Paris he had the courage to fight to the death.

Achilles--- alpha grunt alhpa grunt--boring not really a great character, but a good one.

I get tired of you lames with this alpha this dj that BS---

What I find boring about the Achilles character or many other movies characters which are here referred to as "alpha", is the lack of humanty, he reminded me more of Arnold in Terminator than an actual human character.

I was very impressed by the role of Alexander in Alexander, strong character with a strong inner struggle. It makes the character more believable and cooler.

haha clooney, this is what happens when you venture out of your boxing threads.

you guys need to stop looking at everything in the terms of DJ vs AFC, and classifying all the male behaviour into those two categories. It's not all black and white. If you keep doing it, sooner or later you hit the logic wall of trying to figure out how some so-called AFCs are hitting new pvssy every week, while you're struggling with flaky girls over the phone. Be flexible and open minded, and dont categorize everything.

And while Troy was an awesome movie, you're reading way too much into it.
