Tried to pick up a waitress: FAILED

I went to the same spot last Saturday, to watch some NBA games, and one of the waitresses (who was a friend to the girl) asked me to write down my number on a napkin to give to her. I asked about the first waitresses whereabouts (the one who gave me the incomplete #), and she told me that she didn't work there any more, and she didn't want to lose touch with me, so she asked her to retrieve my # if I were to ever show up.

So I gave the friend my #, and the waitress from a few weeks ago (from the first post in this thread) called the next day (Sunday). We talked for 10 minutes and I told her that I'd call her later in the week after I check my schedule, to set a date.

Why would you do that?

I mean, it doesn't hurt to have an extra phone number, but that original girl played you like a fiddle... and what do you do? Reward her with your number?

Granted, you didn't beg for the number the first time around, but you could have just given the waitress just as many digits as the original one had given you the first time around.

I wouldn't be surprised if she flakes on you. She sounded like a real winner in your OP.
