It depends on where a person's travels and the purpose of the travels.

Since 9/11, flying has become more of a pain in the butt. The whole airport experience has gotten a lot worse. Also, the airlines keep getting cheaper and cheaper, making the flights themselves unpleasant.

A lot of national parks in the US are overcrowded. For example, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone in summer months aren't great experiences. Neither is close to an airport.

A lot of hotels aren't as good as your own home. You are more accustomed to your own pillows and mattress. Cooking your own breakfast is better than a breakfast buffet at a mid-tier hotel chain.

Business travel is often annoying and pointless. Most of what can be accomplished in business travel can be accomplished on Zoom/any other video conferencing software of your choice.

I've seen both travel... and they always comeback the same. Ive seen both type of people not travel... and they are still both the same.

Traveling is cool, but it has its drawbacks. Not traveling is cool, but it has its drawbacks.

People travel for different reason. I think the worst people are narrow minded people who have never traveled and their whole lives revolve around their backwards community within a 50 mile radius and whats happening on fox news. But then you have people who go to a country with a negative GDP throw money around then turn around and mock others for not traveling.

In a year like 2022 yeah for the most part if you live in the US traveling IS overrated, considering you can see and get a feel for the place you want to travel in a 5 min youtube video.

In general besides a photo opportunity for social media and maybe living cheaply in another country for a week, if you have to travel for an escape, to be enlightened about the world, inspired or whatever trendy exhilarating adjective you want to throw around your not living life right.

Their is a reason why company's always want the young interns to travel, because the boss knows better, also why do you think airline tickets are so cheap nowadays... cause most sane people dont want to travel.

Agree with a lot of this. I haven't flown in years, especially with COVID making requirements, etc.

There is one thing about business travel, though, that is useful, and that is that it allows you to focus all of your attention. In my case, I went to a conference in 2019 and met a lot of people and talked to vendors. In 2020, the conference was virtual and I barely watched any of the videos and got distracted with other things. The networking opportunities were also nonexistant.

YouTube started in early 2005. Since roughly 2010-2012, the YouTube video library has had enough travel destination videos to make the need for travel redundant in a lot of cases. In most travel circumstances, it's easier to watch YouTube videos from the destination. That's so much easier than buying a plane ticket, going through airport security, spending multiple hours in a cramped airplane, and going to a hotel to see the same destination. It's much less stressful to watch a YouTube video on the device of your choice at home.

Everywhere is the same Capitalism, Holidaying, seeing stuff from the outside, buildings, roads, cars, people you dont talk to, the same culture. Yeah go somewhere maybe go to a beach, see some ****, some places have a different culture but to outsiders you are just a guest and its all becoming 'westernised' everywhere so what are you really doing.

I think there is something to be said for getting yourself out of your normal routine for a week or two. You don't have to worry about your home and possessions and all the problems that come with owning them (if applicable to you).

However, you can get this with a short getaway or even camping.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned jetlag, but it's a real annoyance for me when traveling long distances.

Having done both, there's simply no comparison to seeing the attraction in person. Youtube videos are a useful alternative for individuals who lack the time or economic resources to see the places in person though. They're also just as (or more) informative.

It all started with sites like Happier Abroad and others like them that gave men false hope that they can go to some starving country, pick up a hot wife, live like a sex god, and all will be fine and dandy. Then you started having instances like dudes getting drugged and killed by local women which opened a few eyes. Meanwhile, the locals were laughing saying "suckers" to every loser western guy flooding into third world countries for a better sex life.

The other overrated traveling is what I call status traveling, it is also a waste of time. Women do it a lot such as going to some tourist hot spot that is considered high status. You meet the worst people in these places and are miserable in that whole trip. I remember a buddy sharing his Tulum travel story and how awful it was with the amount of Instagram Influencers there.

However, I will say that traveling to see the world and enjoy new sites is not overrated. One of my friends traveled to Antarctica (yes, Antarctica!) and had a life-changing experience. Traveling to explore wildlife, a unique ecosystem, or the sights is actually fun. I remember when I went to Yellow Stone and it was breathtaking to see all of the cool wildlife. I even want to go to Key West one day too for the views.

Traveling for curiosity and because you like a place is cool, traveling for p*ssy, status and meeting women is overrated.
