I'm a rising junior and have been in a private high school for the past 2 years. There are only 100 people per grade in the private school and most are geniuses (I was smart enough to get in but I'm among the "dumber" ones)...I'm seriously considering transferring to a large public school to help boost my GPA.

Anybody else here transferred in the middle of high school? My main concern is fitting in and getting a cool reputation...which I failed at the private school (but I've learned a lot since I was new there).

I would assume it's easier to get girls in a large school? I'd like to have more luck in that area...but that may be more of an issue with me, not the school. I'm skinny and defenseless as hell right now (you betcha I'm working to fix that) so probably an easy target to bullying no matter where I am.

Any advice or tips on this would be appreciated. -J

1. Make a name for yourself, basically, do the bootcamp THERE. You will earn a rapport VERY easily with many people.
2. Go to school events (especially if you are going to be a senior).
3. Be yourself and find people with common interests

Welcome to the hard life... people in public schools are savages. They often eat each other from time to time. :woo:

Nah I'm just kidding. I, myself, transferred to public school the beginning of my sophomore year in HS. Best advice I can give you is to set a good image for yourself, that is to say establish what image you want... try to find the in-crowd and hang out with them... buy all the elevator passes offered to you... Please do this one... make small talk and friends (crack a few jokes) the first day opposed to just being the quiet new guy. That eliminates the awkwardness of the other students asking themselves "Should I talk to this guy?"

For what its worth,
