Im an opportunist. I meet women and talk to them whatever way I can. If tis through IM so be it. Its a tool just like any other. I can talk in person and I can chat online. Im no t addicted to it, but I do enjoy it. Im has gotten me laid countless times. In fact, it makes it easier. YOu chat for a lil while then when you meet you already know what she likes to talk about. i almost always screw the first time I meet one of these chicks. Well AIM has Failed Me...

Recently, I was talking to a guy, but I think AIM screwed me over.

Here's why: 1. When we exchanged numbers he initiated contact by text messenging I called him back that night about an hour or two later. His IL still seemed high but he was intoxicated. Asking when we were going to hang out. I let it slide.

2. I made my second call a week later had a short but friendly chat. 7 minutes. We talked a little about interests.

3. I made the third call a week later but he didnt answer left a message which I dislike doing. He didn't return my call.
I then didnt see him online until 2 weeks later.
AIM messed me up right here, he told me what hours and day he'd be working if I wanted to see him, but I counter offered and he never responded. So then I went to the other extreme and showed too much interest. I asked if he wanted to hang out still and he said he'd love to! just like that. Then later that night he couldnt sleep so I invited him to a chat room with my friends from college. He was friendly to all asked them what they thought of me and started teasing me by saying I was sexy and he used to pimp me and he had to get a piece and I was soo good etc. (It never happened though, just teasing me) Stupid I know in the light of day, but this I thought was still good, but again most contact was through AIM, unless I called him.

4. Yesterday I texted asking him to call me last night even though I hate texting and instead I got dissed bc he left a message online saying if you know I want you to call call I'll pay the long distance and then a better diss this afternoon- If your name starts with an R or number starts with an 8 call me. Well I don't qualify in this case.

So what did I do wrong? Well at times I was too much of a challenge and then AIM would make me too available because I couldn't decide if I should next him.

I used online chats to work on my C & F techniques. I also think it's good practive for convo. Just don't go on it expecting to meet women. Use it as a tool. If all you do is sit on IRC/MSN all night and try pickup women then GO OUTSIDE AND MEET PEOPLE FACE TO FACE. Practice with IRC now and then.

wow, i dont know about you guys, but i get great results on AIM.

i have 2 girls who are dying to meet me and beg me to call them...

the real suggestion is : DONT STAY ON AIM all the time, for that matter, get a ****ing life and dont sit on comp all day....

If u know how to talk, get to know her a bit, ask for digits, cut out and call her.

I think one of the main problems with this forum is expressed in this thread. Here is the situation (it could be ANY situation, not just one involving AOL):

1) You talk to a chick, but in order to talk to her you have to do something chumpy like running over to her or using AOL.

2) You don't talk to the chick and you maintain your dignity.


I swear to god, I see this type of thing come up so often on this site. So-called "don juans" will choose option 2 because they feel like option 1 would be too chumpish or "AFC" or "against the bible." What they ignore is that by choosing option 1, and doing that chumpy thing, they are infinitely more likely to lay the chick, or meet that special LTR, or whatever their goal is.

In closing, let me elaborate on this whole situation so that people don't argue about the wrong thing. I'm saying that it is ok to do something chumpy if it opens an opportunity that would otherwise not be present. So, buying a chick a drink at a bar while talking to her would not fall under this category.

Last night I went on IRC for a bit. To practice my C &F. I actually wished I'd saved the transcript now, but I didn't. Got the chick to give me her picture and she looks pretty fine. She's also studyin' at a uni near me.

Anyway, I used C & F like I never thought was possible. Towards the end of our chat she's like "You're freaking hilarious" and she gave me her number. I will probablly organise to meet her with a friends at a club or something.

I tell you it's good practice, don't care what others say. You can work on your sense of humour - and if you can type fast, you're sense of timing.

I didn't intend to pick up women, just wanted to practice. It helps you see what's funny/isn't funny. I just happend to meet a chick who has a life.

There's a lot of retards on IRC, and it is boring. But now and then you meet a cool chick to practice on.

It won't give you courage with women, I agree. But if you already have courage to phone a woman, and organise a date. Then that's all the courage you need.

Just curious, can it exist? Using a microphone to use the Internet as a phone. It'd really save on those long-distance phone calls to my relatives and family.

Amen to a point.
Look at it this way, IM/IRC is a new communication tool. Yes, I agree, you shouldn't talk too much online. But someday, things will change. It will become part of our daily life like phones. (when I mean daily, I mean MORE daily than now, people from all over the other world still don't have a computer)

It's just a matter of time before we make an article with something like "don't talk to girls too much on IM or phone".

times have changed

but the only thing that you have to keep in mind is not let technology SUCK you in. dont let it control you. now, getting rid of aim?! are you crazy?! what a convenient tool. you can talk to multiple ppl and set up dates/meetings/parties without having to call a lotta ppl.

whats this nonsense about you cant get chicks on AIM. jesus, im with Oxide in this one, ive got a couple chicks just dying to hear my voice! (i WILL call b.t.w)

Sometimes i just love to log on some chat and take over. pick a girl who is talking the most and just go for it. 9/10 times i get her to chat with me for awhile, and her IL goes pretty high.

One advice tho, dont waste time on girls you meet who live far away. Fvck spending hours on interenet just to meet her later and realize she isnt what she said she was.
