This post is for Allen and all but Allen will be ignored...
My complaining was an attempt to bring a very serious problem to your attention. I didn't intend for those complaints to turn into multiple pages of arguing with those who took offense to my complaints. Whatever the case...you are now aware of the problem.
What it all boils down to is that somewhere along the lines the moderators (not all, but some) seem to have become somewhat lazy and some have an overblown sense of self-importance. This is not intended as insults or flaming...it's meant to be constructive criticism. I'm pointing it out so that the problem can be rectified.
Yes, deleting posts on a heated thread can be a pain in the rear-end and locking or deleting the whole thread is quicker and easier...but to what end? So the trolls who come here with the sole intention of messing with the site are successful? To watch this go on is frustrating to no end.
Moderators are volunteers, yes, and they don't get paid...but if they aren't willing to do the job (because it IS a job that requires a certain amount of work), then they shouldn't volunteer for the job. If a moderator is unable to control their own behavior, can't handle fair criticism when they make a mistake or are just too busy or lazy to do the work being a moderator requires then they should step down and be relaced.
For as long as I've been a member of this site there have been women who have come to this site disguised as new guys with the goal of being disruptive and shutting down discussion that offends them. It used to be that they were dealt with in a way that didn't disrupt the ability of the members to have discussions. That's not the case anymore. Now, it is affecting everyone.
You don't seem to be here as often as you used to be...which is understandable. At the same time, because you are here less often, it's even more important that those you select to be moderators are able and willing to handle the job they volunteer for. In some cases, that's just not happening. Ideally...those you choose to moderate should be the kind of members who don't post a lot and spend more time reading other posts. That way there won't be moderators hurling around insults and having arguments over nonsense and they won't be too busy posting and or fighting to do their job.
Again...this post is for Allen, not the moderators, members or anyone else. I will not respond to any responses made to me that come from anyone other than Allen.
