Anyone have any tips on how to smile 'on the spot'? I'm usually a friendly guy, I laugh at a lot of stuff so I am smiling often, but when I find a situation where I'm supposed to smile I just can't do it, it seems forced.

Today at the computer terminal this hot chick was checkin me out a couple of times, so I definitely figured something was up. Next time she looked at me I decided I was gonna flash her a smile. She looked at me again...I sort of tried to force a smile but I just couldn't do it....it didn't seem natural at all. I seem to only smile when I laugh (which is often) or when I am REALLY happy. And altho I kind of got 'the rush' at this situation and I was a little excited, I just couldn't force a smile.

And ya I could've just talk to her...but I would rather smile and gauge her reaction cuz I don't have the guts to just openly start a conversation in a situation like that.

You can't force a smile.

In your situation, as soon as you thought about forcing the smile, you shoulda just pushed the idea out of your head and started thinking about other stuff (like, oh, the rack of the girl you're staring at :D ).

Even if a smile didn't come out, the girl would have definitely seen a swave, confident look on your face. That's good

And don't try to stop smiling and make a serious look either; don't try to do anything except focusing on the girl. The rest will work out by itself.

I never force smiles. When I'm in the king of the world mode, I'll go to the mirror and smile. When I'm in a bad mood, I'll go to the mirror and smile. BIG difference. Key is just to be in a good mood and an overall happier person. The smiles should come naturally.

...practice...smiling?

I'm going to go out on a limb and claim that nobody needs that level of training.

I smile, laugh, crack jokes, etc, but I never smile for the camera. That sort of smile is always fake and silly in my opinion, and it doesn't really look nice to me.

Same with this situation. What you might want to do next time is say something that'd cause you to smile (crack a joke, whatever), so at least it will be natural.

best thing you can do to help you smile is....

BE PROUD OF YOUR SMILE.

Regardless if you're a natural smiler, or you gotta fake it a bit...if you're teeth are jacked, nasty, and full of stains and plaque...forget what you look like.

Go to a dentist, get your teeth cleaned professionally at home, bleach if you have to, get ortho...keep your teeth sharp..

i guarantee the healthier and better looking your teeth, the more you'll flash them to the ladies...

I don't smile too much. I only show my teeth when I'm laughing or when I'm sharing a really nice moment with someone. Regarding girls, when it's silent and we're just sitting there, or she sneaks a look, I flash a broad smile.

Usually, I have a grin that's not too happy, but it's like you're semi-holding somethign funny in. They always ask, "what's so funny?" Then you can start a convo or something....but this is from HS experiences.

smiling

Think about something in the past that made you experience some sort of euphoria and there you go! Smile will come naturally.

Alright so far I think the best idea is to think about something that would make me smile and then just go from there. The other alternative is just a grin, I can do that pretty naturally...but it doesn't look as good as a legit smile if you know what I mean. And of course I could just talk to her/make a comment about the situation but i'm too big of a pu$$y!
