I know a lot of guys here will disagree, but feelings are great. Anger for example, empowers you, gives you self-confidence and "I don’t give a **** about you" attitude, helps you to set firm boundaries with other people, etc. Feeling down (depressed) stops you dead in the track because something in yourself or your life is not working the way it should. Down time gives you space and time to analyze your behavior, attitudes and environment for clues of your dissatisfaction.
You don’t have to go nuts with rage when you’re angry, nor do you have to cry like a baby when you're sad, but it is important to show respect to your feelings and let them be. They are here to help you. If you don’t they will come back to hunt you in forms such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideas, etc.
