Sorry guys, but this is not flaming. I just want some of your attention

I've read a book called "Psycho-Cybnernetics" and it said it is good to use imagination to improve yourself like what RKTEK has said "AFFIRMATION"! If you feel shy, imagine that you're the most outgoing person, feel it and it will happen. It is believed that your nervous system will take care of your shyness for you if you keep on practising. So when you come to real situation, SNAP! Your nervous system will handle things for you.

TO ME IT IS ALL BULLSH|T!!!!!

I just started for three days and I have found no improvements at all. I was wondering if all these works. I just can't wait to see some results. Furthermore, I was so pessimistic and depressed when I wrote my old post "How to turn from a total loser who is nothing into something?"

I've read that affirmations spoken or heard in first person tend to be rejected by your unconscience if you dont believe them fully. Your unconscience will simply say "no I am not this" until massive repitition is carried out. By saying "You are great" instead of "I am great" i heard the affirmation flows through more smoothly, anyone know if this is true?

Yes, they need to be in the first person. You are basically infusing thoughts into your subconscious. You wouldn't be naturally thinking about yourself in 3rd person, i.e. "Ofus is sexy!" or "You are sexy!" You think in first person, i.e. "I am a sex machine!" or "All women want my rod!", which is why your affirmations need to be 1st person as well.

Well um, you pretty much summed it up for yourself.

How'd you expect it to work if you don't even believe it would help you in the first place? Notice that we're discussing 'AFFIRMATIONS' here.

Yeah this works..I tried it before.

But sometimes when i say something which I'm really not (i.e "I am the best bball player that is!"), my brain really calls on my bull**** and tries to show me the negative side of things. How do I fix that?

How about you don't go to super extremities? Say things like:
"I have confidence in my playing ability."
"I hustle on every play."
"I have unlimited energy."
"I have the drive to win."

In addition to that you actually have to practice to get better also. But you knew that already.

Going deeper into the firs vs third person.

Well, if one's self confidence/esteem can be afected by negative stuff that what others say, it will be boosted up if others say positive stuff. So if some other guy/girl's voice says this stuff about you, you/ your mind would "believe" in it (like "they say I'm number 1, I probably am").

There are these tapes with people saying positive stuff like "YOU ARE CREATIVE", etc (third person). Anyone with positive feedback on this (third person tapes)?

hey guys give at least 21 days...
it takes at least 21 days to change bad habbits/concious thru this.
it'll take lots of effort for first 21 day n then it'll become habbit...
it won't work in just 3 day...

if u don't wanna work on affirmation then try MP3 from Anthony Robbins or Tony Robbins... lots of good stuff...

I've been doing this every day for the last two weeks and it's definately having a positive effect on me. I only spend 5 minutes every morning and it gives me a buzz and puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day.

I've tried it in the first person, for example:

I am confident, I am a DJ

but found it's better if you add your name to the sart, followed by 'you', for example:

Jamie, you are a DJ or
Jamie, you are confident in approaching new women

I find that adding your name to the front personalises it and makes it easier for you to believe, which is the whole point of affirmations.

Another thing, you can't really rush them. You've got to have time to be able to say each thing so that you have time to reflect on it. No point in just quickly reading them out in 30 seconds before the bus comes.

This all reminds me of a study done on basketball freethrowing.

They got 50 people who have never thrown a freethrow, ever. They took a baseline of their 'lack of talent'.

25 of them physically practised freethrowing everyday for a month, 1/2 hour per day.

The other 25 concentrated on throwing the ball thru the net, 1/2 hour per day, every day. This group never touched a ball.

After 30 days they measured the progress of the two groups; Remember, one group actually practised, the other just 'imagined'.

The improvement results were virtually identical, with a slight edge to the group that actually practised. But both groups did indeed improve by roughly the same amount (and the results are measureable, not theoretical).

Now, nothing beats actually doing something, but this illustrates the power of the subconcious. Remember, the subconcious doesn't know whats 'real' and what isn't, so you can program it quite easily.

Affirmations are the best way to do this.

I believe that you simply attract what you 'think'. I've proven this over and over to myself over the years.

If you always negative, in a downer mood, why do you think bad things continue to happen? This is a vicious cycle...think of people who always whine "Why does nothing good ever happen to me?"
We know the answer to that....

I also believe that this is why prayers work for some people; they are using positive affirmations and thoughts to get what they desire.

Oh, the 21 day rule? That has been explained to me by a few motivational instructors by saying that if you do something continuously for 21 days, it will simple become 'ingrained', and a habit after this time. I've heard many references to doing something everyday for 21 days consistently.

There IS something to all of this....

ive been doin ross jeffries affirmations for a few days...
i made a post about it in the discussion forum...

anyways it should still work but i dont do it exactly the same as u guys say here.. i do it like he says to in the tape

he says just say in your mind 3 times My mind will keep these commands in my memory, permanently, and all the time, and make everything necessary for them to happen.

Then say these affirmations .. each one 3 times out loud:
1. You are Aggressive, DiRect, and POWerfull with the women you desire. You RRRAdiate a CONfidence, Self ConTrol, and CHarmm that women find IRRReSIStably Attractive!
2. Your mind is Focused on what you desire. You go for what you want, Congruently, .. and powerfully. ( say it softly but with force)
3. (kind of matter of factly) You never know what PHYSICAL type a woman will go for, .. so YOU Always go for it ConGRUENTLY and Powerfully.
4. You take IMMEdiate Advantage of your OPPortunities with Women. You SWWIFTLY establish Incredible rapport, gather the information that you need, then close with Aggression, Power, And Finesse.
5. You RRadiate, a, Natural, Easy Self Acceptance, that women find IRRRESISTABLY Attractive.
6. You safeguard your morale and self esteem at all times, you SWIFTLY size up a womans potential, and ELIMINate those who are WASTING YOUR TIME.
7. You are MAStering the responses, attitudes, behaviors, insights, and timing, that are bringing you IRRESISTABLE Power with the women you desire.

Then say in your mind 3 times:
Let these commands be fulfilled.

so all u gotta do is take a deep breath, close ur eyes.. and say that crap...

no tape recorder or anything.. u just say those .. and its in the YOU form.. not the I .. because your subconcious rejects "I"

B eleive it or not, it works to some extent.

The trick is you just can't come up with any off of the wall stuff, and nothing you can't physically do.

My senior year in hs we got a new basketball coach. We did this the whole off season. Not only that, he would constantly tell us how good we were and things like that. We played 15 players the year before and had a loosing record... My senior year we were literly 6 deep, we played the entire game and whipped the living **** out of most teams we played... 24-2. We lost by a combined 3 points both games to the same team that won the state championship. We were not really better, but we just knew that any team we played could not hang with us, unlike the year before we actually waited for things to go wrong.
