Actualy, i myself consider "latin" the South-American's .. and i'm from Romania, wich btw was never conquered by france but Romans .. you know, the Roman Empire, Julius Caesar .. the latin language was of international circulation like english today, and it was more adapted in the conquered provinces of Rome because, oh well .. it belonged to Rome now 
.. as for the Latin, i guess the "romance" and passion is a heritage from the "indians" wich knew more about spirituality, nature and inter-human relationships then the more civilised, cold, science-dedicated western cultures ..
