You're such an ass. I could have googled it, but I was assuming that you had the best view on the subject. Your link still fails without "]".

How is fiber "one of those myths?"
I've never heard of a fiber myth before.

I think I understand what you're trying to say, but (a) fiber itself is not a myth -- it actually exists and (b) saying more fiber is good for you is my shorthand for saying that whole foods are to be preferred over processed foods.

I recognize that the beneficial role of fiber in the diet is overhyped, but eating more whole foods i believe has not.

well thank you for the kudos, WBA, but let me re-emphasize your other point, which applies as much to me as to anyone else: the more time I spend here the worse shape I'm in (that's why you've seen less of me lately & i'm in my best shape in years!)

Protein and fat can both replenish glycogen and feed the brain perfectly adequately. Carbs are not strictly needed for either.

As for contradicting data on how to train/diet/whatever, it's symptomatic of the 'too much information' era. Anyone who is stuck in the overanalysing/reading/studying rut (you know, you guys who spend every spare minute on various bbing/nutritional/science/whatever boards or related literature) will find their progress grind to a halt fairly quickly.

Lots of people on here would do well with taking 6-12 months completely OFF the internet and just trying different ways of eating/training and seeing what works. Once you've got an idea of what's working, make adjustments without straying too far from that pathway and you won't go wrong.

If you don't want to do this, search this forum for posts by EFFORT and Throttle and read those only, ALL the info needed for anyone who wants to get muscular and lean has been covered by them more than once.
Hmm.. all the info i've looked up said different. though it does make sense what you're saying.

Duly noted :)

Another thing I'm kind of confused about it is cardio. It sounds like if I run it will chew up all of my muscle. How true is this. How much cardio can I do so it won't chew up my muscle. Will Smith ran 5 miles a day for "I am Legend" and he is ripped in the movie, about 6% bodyfat weighing 185 lbs on his 6'1 frame.

I'm no expert, but I think you just have to make sure you are replenishing your body with protein. Fish and chicken breasts would seem to be good foods to take in that would be low in fat and good in protein for sustaining those muscles.

Hey guys, I admit, I probably eat bacon about 3x a week for breakfast. How bad is bacon for you honestly? I so strongly associate its taste with breakfast that it's hard to pass up.

honestly, nobody knows, and we probably never will (too expensive, impractical & in nobody's interest to test conclusively). so if you enjoy it, recognize that plenty of people have lived to ripe old ages eating it darn near every day. you probably will die (prematurely or not) of something else.

if you need a reason to avoid it, it's full of preservatives, wood smoke (or some worse chemical fakery) and like all meats, the harder you char it, presumably the worse it is for you. its salt & saturated fat content (the most typically identified culprits) are the least of your worries, no matter what the AHA says.

Yeah, I figure the slices are so thin anyway. Nobody eats bacon in order to get full, it's just the taste people like. I heard though that Elvis used to eat bacon by the pound.

How much of the olive oil does veggies soak up when I heat up some olive oil in a pan to cook like frozen veggies. Just wondering because the olive oil is loaded with fat and calories so it might make a healthy food like veggies unhealthy then.

I'm an ass for expecting a modicum of competence? Maybe the real problem is that society has the bar set too low, and I'm only an ass in comparison.

Why would I have better knowledge than my sources?

The link works jsut fine without the "]." You can't just remove a ] without difficulty? Simon can. You gonna let him get away with that?

If early man wasn't eating many carbs where was all this fiber coming from? I eat fruit and vegetables everyday, but there's not that much fiber there that it would count as a "diet high in fiber" as everyone tries to emphasize.
