California sucks. Out of the fifty states, it'd probably be the last state where I'd want to live. Actually Hawaii would be worse, as you're land-locked, I can't afford a boat, and I hate getting on an airplane (I'd rather drive everywhere, regardless of the distance). Plus even if I could afford a boat I'm not sure if I could stock enough fuel to get from Honolulu to LA.
OK, so I don't live there. But, my father grew up in Bakersfield during the 50s and 60s. In the 70s he attended UCLA, where he met my mother. They both agree that LA is a dirty filthy place. It's also crowded and expensive.
It was in 1981 when he emigrated from CA to Central IL. I visited there with my father in 1994, when his mother was still alive and was living in Inglewood. It didn't seem that great, though I recall that he took me to Disneyland and we were there for 11 hours (I don't want to think how much money he spent on me).
Crowded and expensive? No thanks. As an only child I admit that I like to take up a lot of space.
I'd rather move east or south.
