Well, what I did was become "smooth" on the dance floor (the only dancing other guys in my grade know how to do is grinding; it's a little sad). Girls almost instantly viewed me as "that guy" at the parties. Respect from other guys came shortly after their saw my "success". At the very least, you can get your foot in the door :).
