the world getting weird

Is it just me, or are more random things happening more often? And the weirder thing is, that most of these random events are things people were fearing would happen. Its as if the world is listening to our fears. For example, about 3 people i know were involved in 3 different accidents in 1 week, and something similar happened last month at work, with 4 coworkers getting rear ended in the same week. Earthquakes, floodings and In a larger scale example, our fears about all the developed economies collapsing has realized.
Has anybody else thought about this?

I don't think those occurrances are "weird" per se, I would put it down to sh1t happens. The problem is, alot more sh1t is happening today than 5-10 years ago.

The public mind is caught in a vortex of negative expectations, the same thing happened during the Great Depression. When fear and uncertainty subsides, you won't notice so much "weird".

Objectively speaking you are correct.

The frequency of natural disasters has increased.

The volatility of financial markets has increased.

No one can argue with this, these are facts.


Now on a more subjective level - do you not notice a larger and larger spiritual conflict?

On one level, it is obvious with Christianity VS Islam

On a more subtle level, occult symbolism is becoming more and more prevalent - just check out the VMAs or Lady Gaga's Telephone MV.


We are getting closer to the end times. Oh and as a Christian, I laugh my ass off at 2012 being the end of the world - according to the Bible, only God knows when the end times will come.

As for things happening, I like to believe this is nothing but a person looking out for it and seeing what they want to see, think of it like this:

You buy a pair of Nike Air's, you think your the only kid on the block who is cool enough to own a pair, then low and behold, it seems every-one is wearing them, you didn't notice it before.

Your listening to the radio, you hear a track you really like - now it seems through out your day, you keep hearing the same song - or alternativly you hear a really annoying tune - and from that point onwards you step out into the world and find that almost everyone is playing it - when in truth it's probably been played for a while you've just probably never really paid attention to it before.

The world is getting more connected. We know more, faster than ever. Things that would have come to us as rumor or word of mouth news comes to us now as fact the instant it happens. Things we used to keep to ourselves and only to close friends, we freely broadcast on the internet and to each other in person.

This has nothing to do with faith. You will see with your eyes whether there is are disasters in Dec 2012 or not.

Mayans claim no such thing. Their calendar simply ends at 2012, so many people have interpreted this as a prediction of the end of the world. What's more likely is that the calendar maker couldn't be assed to write anymore, so he gave up at 2012.

The Mayan calendar is not a calendar in our sense of the word, ie: a predetermined schedule of days. It is a mechanical device with a series of wheels with characters written on them, and each combination of wheel positions denotes a day, month, and year. Since it is impossible to mathematically calculate infinity (or eternity in this case), there has to come a day at which the device will have exhausted all its possible combinations.

So December 2012 is not the end of days, it is the time at which the Mayan calendar becomes useless. Luckily we use the calendar that Caesar gave us, which can go as long as we are here to use it.

These people knew things that took us centuries too figure out. The world has always been crazy its just that now you are overly bombardment with information and video and it just seems that every threat is close by rather then far away. If you are living in the western part of the world you are probably living in the most stable and safe time for the average person then any other time in history.
