Ok, some quick background on me first I guess. I'm a very stocky moderately strong 245 lbs and 6' tall. I've been told by an ex body builder guy that I have a great frame for body building. I don't really look "FAT" in clothes, but without it's obvious. Ok, I admit it, I'm fat and out of shape.

Now, we've all seen Pook extolling the virtues of skinnyguy.net, now is there an equivilent program for the not so skinny guy? I.e. Easy to follow and effective at blowing away fat and gaining (or not losing) muscle or gaining mucle and lose fat later, whichever works best. I'd like to do this without wading through the mass of missleading and/or overly technical materials on the web? What's needed to up the magical testosterone levels naturally, will ZMA work for me too? Is that the testosterone secret?

Pointers to good information greatly appreciated... oh, and "Just do a search" doesn't cut it for my "non misleading and/or overly technical" criteria.

Oh, and I live in a rural area, so I don't have easy access to a gym (i.e. spotters for heavy lifting of free weights) I don't want to kill myself in the garage or whatever. I guess if that's the best way to go thought, I can maybe find someone to workout with.

ZMA is NOT the testosterone secret. It just helps to increase the levels to the optimum range. Since test production is dependent on zinc intake (not sure what the magnesium is for but that gets depleted too and its not good to have a defficiency) you don't want to have a zinc defficiency. That means your body cannot produce enough testosterone and since you're working out very hard... the testosterone levels may drop if you don't have sufficient zinc in your diet and you end up feeling like ****.

And if you're fat, its either your diet or activity levels. Or both.

Get into the gym and make something out of your body or go home and eat a tub of ice cream and maybe that will make you feel better for a couple of hours. You've got to figure out how to get into shape, the proper diet (you can make improvements even with piss poor food but only to a point and then it hits you HARD). Figure it out no one is going to hold your hand and there is no magic, no secret just hard work and a desire to be better.

I would send you a link to an incredible site.. but I don't want any keyboard jockies over there. The best place to find this kind of info is to talk to the hardcore guys in your gym, not here. You know.. those guys that are huge yet incredibly modest, they dont brag, they don't take up a squat rack doing CURLS. You know who they are. Take the info straight from the horse's mouth.

Now, what the hell is that? I never said I was an inactive couch potato. I WORK for a living doing physical things. I said I was moderately strong, not a tub of lard.

Figure it out no one is going to hold your hand and there is no magic, no secret just hard work and a desire to be better.

The best place to find this kind of info is to talk to the hardcore guys in your gym, not here....
Now I know you didn't fully read my post. Try doing that next time before putting your foot in your mouth.

I have a bench with some of those cheap plastic weights, barbell and some dumbells and an incline situp bench. I can't really put enough weight on the dumbells to do anything useful with though.

No spotter though.

A lot of people tend to have a mineral deficiency when it comes to zinc and magnesium.

Taking ZMA at night will help put you into a deeper sleep, which in itself helps your natural testosterone levels get raised.

Side note: Avoid calcium when taking ZMA as calcium tends to have priority over zinc and magnesium and blocks their absorption.

No, I don't have references for what I just said. But a quick google search should validate those points

This was probably said in the previous posts: ZMA is only a supplement; your core diet and training is what will determine if you get into shape

Don't think you need ZMA really. As mentioned above, your diet and cardio will help you out and weightlifting/red meat should keep your test levels high - unless you've got low testesterone for medical reasons then I doubt you need it mate.

You should consider buying serious weights though.. you can lose fat with what you've got plus diet and cardio but don't expect to hold onto much muscle - your lifestyle may let you keep some of it if it's physically demanding enough.

Diet and cardio information is on this board, just stick to the basics: high protein, moderate fat, watch your carbs, high dose EFAs, green tea, lots of cardio ..

i just like the dreams ZMA gives you, or the stack that's the equivalent (zinc, magnesium, b6)

You do not need any of that sh1t to lose weight, you need a proper diet, weight training routine and cardio.

Yeah, I read your post but you still have to talk to the guys who know what they're doing, regardless of where you are. Posting on sosuave is NOT the way to get good info. (except for Warboss and a few others)

For example, how do you know what I said about ZMA is true? Could be bull****, I could make a statement that seems logical even though it might not really work. Take everything with a grain of salt and do your own research. Get to a gym and find what you need to know.

And how am I supposed to know you're not a tub of lard? You said youre stocky, and admit you're fat and out of shape. (Read your own damn post again)

Salvatore, you're right you don't need ZMA to get in shape, however your body does use up zinc during intense exercise, and you end up having a defficiency. Defficiencies aren't good and with inferior testosterone production (little zinc available) you end up feeling like sh1t.

You have to becareful with zma. Too much zinc can be toxic.

I have been triing 6 oxo and it seems to be working pretty well.
