Guys, I was wondering what your take on Umbrellas are. Do you think they are effeminate?

I ask because today I had to walk around with one, and I couldn't get the thought out of my head.

I woke up this morning to find that it was raining, foggy, and very cold outside. As much I wanted to say "screw you" to my college classes and tuck myself back in bed..I forced myself to go since I have missed to many days of classes already.

Now normally I would just make a mad dash to my car and then to the respective buildings where my classes are, but I am just coming out of a really bad cold. Plus I always shower in the morning and leave home with a head of wet hair.

So not wanting to risk coming down with a fever again, I took a "male" umbrella with me. It is solid black and thin...nothing like those fancy girl umbrellas.

So once inside the buldings I would just carry my folded up umbrella in my had like I was a Roman soldier carrying his sword or something. But the whole time I couldn't get the thought out of my head of weather or not a man carrying an umbrella was effeminate.

I don't know..what do think? Umbrellas: are they in or out?

No, an umbrella is not effeminant, unless it's hot pink. Matter of fact, it doesn't matter if it's got the words "I'm a bit prissy" embroidered on it, as long as it keeps you dry! (Unless maybe if you were the one who embroidered it.) Only someone who doesn't have an umbrella nearby would go out into a down pour without one.

An umbrella would suggest that you've watched the weather report and ergo, the news. A sign of intelligence. (Yeah, it's a stretch for an inferential leap.)



Missing class? That's afc style, the whole way. How are you going to improve yourself? Prayer?

You or your parents paid good money (or scholarship) for your tuition. Don't piss it away. Never, ever miss a class. There are usually women there!

Didn't you learn in jr. High? School is a socialization process set up by society! Be social!

I don't know........ if you ask random women on the street, 9 out of 10 of them will say that they absolutely REFUSE to date ANY man who uses an umbrella.

Ok, lets calm down.

This thread had nothing to do with women and how women view men with umbrellas.

The question was if it is effeminant to carry one around...not if it will make or break my game. I'm not concerned about that. Ok...

And Starman, I said I looked like a Roman Soldier as a metaphore..not because I was ACTUALLY walking around like Maximus!

And believe me, I know all too well the positive side of college: The women. That is one of the main reasons I go But for me, having missed 2 days total is too much already!

So no...I was not concerned about weather or not the Umbrella was Anti-Dj or not. Some of you need to calm down. It was a logical question. I am willing to bet money that every man has had that same thought atleast ONCE when holding an umbrella.

So it was a normal question. And considering some of the threads that pop up around here every now and then I don't see where some of you get off on critisizing a simple question.

No, that thought has never crossed my mind.
An umbrella is a tool, it's meant to be used.
Back when I lived in Vancouver (a city that never stops raining), I'd always carry this red cane-umbrella.
Did I think it was sissy? No.
Did my friend think it was sissy? Hell no, she was glad that I shared it with her.
Besides, do you really want to get wet and sick because you thought an umbrella was just too girly???

My thoughts EXACTLY. As someone who has been here at sosuave since 2000 I can tell you guys that this place has taken a sharp turn downward. Gone are the days of people such as AD and POOK, where they actually HELPED people

Now we have a bunch of school children trying to be the class clown at the expense of others. One of the main reasons I hardly ever come here anymore except to read the Tips and articles.
