It's fairly obvious that self-improvement will usually make one more attractive to women. However, I believe a fallacy has arisen in some circles that seems to paralell the Zahavi truth in advertising theory. That is to say that dishonesty will be detected by females.
If this were the case, then marketing companies would be bankrupt, and someone like me couldn't go out and swoon women away from guys with larger bank accounts and biceps. Thankfully, this is not the world I've found myself living in.
I am an advocate of self-improvement myself. However, I would say that learning methods to meet and swoon women is a form of self-improvement rather than a means of avoiding self-improvement.
The older technologies were replaced because they did not work as effectively. This caused the few people who field test to favor the best methods. The best methods have now been verified and are starting to make much attention.
If the goal is to get a bigger bicep, then lifting weights and correcting diet is the fastest way to achieve that goal. However, if the goal is to meet and sleep with more women it makes no sense to first get a bigger bicep. This is an excuse to avoid the dreaded approach anxiety that occurs in the first few months of PU and can only be reduced by frequent approaches in rapid succession. The same # of approaches over a long period will still not produce results.
Additionally, I wouldn't go so far as to say methods are dishonest, but rather a focused way of improving specific skills. Almost all methods take time to master.
