Since you improved, a lot of girls have started playing the "social media game".
They’ll start watching your Instagram stories to show “hey, I see you,” and sometimes they might even like your posts.
And maybe they do it after you ran into each other that day.

Many women who use a smartphone and say they’re in a relationship… they’re not really. "It’s just your turn", we know how it goes. These are girls who are already taken, but they’ve noticed your value. So they keep you around, just in orbit. Definitely a red flag.

But I’m not trying to start drama, I just want to understand the general consensus here.
Who here uses social media? Who notices this happening? How do you respond? What do you do?
It seems pretty clear that this is a new language of flirting in the digital age and it adds to a man SMV to show off what he achieved in life, who he is. Something like your CV. So it is your responsability to "reply" correctly to those "customers"

"How do you respond?"

If she expresses interest and seems like a cool chick, DM her a time and place to get together. She either appears or doesn't

Goes to show you the downside of how Social Media and the internet has ruined relationships. We were better off with walkie talkies, walkmans and beepers with cable tv. Simple times. Yeah you just want to take it as a compliment but want to avoid chicks like that and not get into unnecessary drama. If you're a Man, it's good to be noble and follow the ' Bro code', one- you never get involved with a chick who just broken up a friend or even an acquaintance you know...even if you don't like that guy. Ya want a clean slate as much as possible to reap good Karma.

The only social media I use is Hinge. And even with Hinge I am cool deleting it for weeks or months at a time to take a break.

This forum is basically the only other place I post online other than emails.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
