The running of the bulls: Would you go?

The running of the bulls held in Pamplona, Spain, is considered one of those things every guy must do in their life. To have a complete life you don't have to do millions of things, there are 3 things which almost basically complete the life of a guy (to keep it simple)

1. make love to a woman
2. get your drivers liscence/car
3. go run with the bulls

Nothing like the experience of testosterone and fear running through your veins like never before as there are real heavy bulls running behind you and you are running for your life (literally). There are no pads allowed and no protective equiptment allowed. Now all that aside, who here would go to the running of the bulls and actually run with the bulls? im not talking about being a p**** like Dennis Rodman who claims to be fearless and always brags about running with the bulls, yet he only ran like 4 seconds with the bulls and got out like a scared little girl!

welcome to my world
i honestly think it's very stupid to "run with the bulls." by doing so, you're not proving anything but your stupidity.

ever listen to the jim rome show, on espn's sports radio? he actually had some hilarious commentary about the running of the bulls thing.

a lot of guys die doing this. why the heck is being chased by an enraged animal one of the things you gotta do? let the stupid spanish people get gored if they want to.

and it's not like you have much room to run. you're running in a crowd of hundreds. say you get stuck behind some clumsy tard who runs slower than your grandmother walks. what the heck would you do? not to mention most guys who run with the bulls, go to the bars/pubs and get drunk beforehand.

what's worse than being chased by an enraged animal, than being chased by an enraged animal while your drunk, and your senses are not sharp. i don't know about you, but even if there was the slightest chance that i knew i would be chased by an enraged animal, i would not drink beforehand.

and a bull is a darn big animal. it's like the size of a honda civic, and probably ways just as much. then imagine those long horns goring your body to bits.

as if skydiving, bungee jumping, or mountain climbing weren't extreme enough, you have to go get chased by an animal the size/weight of a car, while your senses are impaired?!

it's just crazy. i would only do it if i was suicidal. i doubt any 'man' in their right mind would do that.

btw, i'm not a dennis rodman fan, but i'd be scared like a little girl too if there was an enraged bull after me.

I'd definately find it hard to do, but I'd want to do it.

When you've met the basic requirements of survival and you're self-aware, you realise that the choice between death or life is utterly meaningless, or rather that there's no reason to live.

Events which incite a more primal sensation in you however inexorably link you to the primal instinct of survival.. the instinct that keeps the human population alive which you may have largely detached from.

if you hit the ground they will generally jump over you. The real challenge is to make it to the stadium running hard there is where you could get gored.

One day when I have some time I would like to run.

not a lot of people die. Only 13 have died in the hundreds of years history of the festival. The last one to die was an american 10 years ago.

You mentioned skydiving, bungee jumping and mountain climbing. I have read from many sources that have done all of those and Running with the bulls ranks higher in terms of excitement/adrenaline rush factor.

I watched the running of the bulls on espn last year and they covered the trip of some american guys that went over there. All of them said it was one of the greatest experiences they ever had! most people say the same thing!

I think it is the feeling of knowing you are literally running for your life! how many times do you get to experience this feeling if ever? i guess one kind of people that have experienced this is law breakers caught in high speed car chases with the cops. They drive blazing fast knowing that danger and death could possibly lie ahead, and the adrenaline rush/fear is enormous. Being in a situation where your own life is at risk gets you that way.

I want to go run with the bulls so bad. That would be the best adrenaline rush.

But I wouldn't put it #3 on the list of things to do to complete life.

I think it's cruel to the bulls, but let the Navarrese make money off Americans. It's definitely a manly thing to do and if I got a free ticket to Pamplona I'd do it.

get your facts right dude 13 people have died in the running the bulls since 1924 and the last person was in 1995, 10 years ago.

do you know how many people have died skydiving alone so far this year? 15 in the states alone. How many people died on everest alone this year yet alone the other mountains round the world??

If you were to take up a stupid sport running with the bulls would be one of the safer ones.

how many of the bulls die each day? all of em.

You want real excitement?

Grab a gun, take a plane to Sierra Leone (or any country in civil disorder), and go "running with the bullets". Its like running with the bulls, except you're being chased by bullets and if you can't outrun them you die.

Have fun! :D

I have been to Pamplona/Iruna and watched it all from the stadium at the end of the run, I saw some guys get run over but nobody seriously hurt... I would not do it myself though (too old).

Something they do not tell you is that Pamplona is overrun by tourists during the festival and it is NASTY... people pissing and puking everywhere.. the city cannot handle the crowds. It is an all night party, crazy but like I said disgusting.. not enough public toilets in the main square, etc.

I would not go again but I guess seeing it once was fun.

Yeah but how many people have been seriously injured??http://www.expatica.com/source/site...=81&story_id=21805&name=95+hurt+in+San+Fermin's+'running+of+the+bulls'+

Do you really want to end up like that guy??

Need adrenaline rush?! go work out and then try 10 cold approaches on HB's in a single day. At least if you fail you will learn something and your A$$hole will not be 5 times its normal size!!

Sissies! Hah, yeah I'd definitely do it. My friend did it 2 years ago...he told me most of the runners aren't even close to the bulls. It's not dangerous unless you're dumb and think you need to be near the back of the pack.

You've got that right. I went in telling myself that if I felt the need to look back to see how close the bulls were, I wasn't running fast enough. :p

If you consider this an adrenaline rush comparable to skydiving or running with the bulls then I'd suggest you need to get out more.
