The One Question You SHOULD Be Asking

"What days are you free next week?"

This one little question will raise the effectiveness of turning numbers into dates for you. Often times advice is given about being very firm and very concise when trying to set up dates......it leads to awkwardness. How many times has this happened to you before?

DJ: Hey whats up....

HB: blah blah blah

DJ: Ive heard about this new bar called xyz. Sounds really cool, we should go.

HB: totally blah blah blah

DJ: Lets go saturday at 8pm

HB: Oh sorry, im doing xyz then

DJ: ..................ummmm how about friday then?

HB: sorry friends bday.......

DJ:...........................*kills self*

So obviously a woman with high interest may counter offer and that would be very appropriate. But more often then not they will make a generic statement like "well maybe next week". Some of the time she may be "making stuff up" because she actually doesnt want to hang out with you........and some time she is ACTUALLY busy with prior made plans. You limit yourself by being so direct right off the bat. Instead....do this:

DJ: Hey whats up....

HB: Blah blah blah

DJ: I heard about this really cool bar. I think we should check it out. What days are you free next week?

HB: Sounds fun. Im free x, y, and z.

DJ: Cool lets go x at 8pm. See you then.

So you see....this method allows her to give you some days that she will be free and you simply choose one that fits your schedule and make the plans. It also serves twofold....as a better screening tool for interest anyways, because if she cannot come up with a single day over the course of a week to hang out with you.....shes definitely not interested vs being busy for 1 day.

I remember reading somewhere ages that you shouldn't ask her what days she is free because it makes you look too open? That mentality held me back, now I just ask what day they're free and if they can't provide a day, you know where you stand. Like you said, it's so simple.

I think there needs to be an overhaul in general about keeping things simple. Men and women are meant to be each other naturally so it's not going to be a complicated model to get one naked in your bed. In the last few months, I've cut back so much in terms of what I was doing and have had better results. Go figure.

Yup. I run into this situation many times:

Me: How does your Tuesday evening look?

Her: Oh, I'm busy doing blah, blah. Any chance Thursday works?

Me: Sure, Thursday it is.

So really, even though I proposed a specific day, she refused and counter-offered, I still end up looking available. I like the OP's approach better. That way if she proposes 3 days, you can say you're available on one of those days and save face.

Yeah I like this too. I was doing the 'You tell her the day and time for the date' just because that approach seemed to be a consensus on this and other forums. But it doesn't work often for the reasons the OP said. If a girl was telling me, 'Let's meet on X day at Y time', even if I was interested I would often have to say no, because I've got another date lined up.

Am going with OP's approach from now on.

Good advice. When I'm on holidays I inevitably use this approach because I have more spare time than the girl.

When I am back at home and in full on multi-girl plate spinning mode I literally check my phone diary in front of them then say something like "I'm free this Tuesday and Thursday, or next Wednesday". This has also proven successful.

Yes I like using that as well. Any suggestions for a scenario that is currently playing out for me.

Messaged a cute chick last week on okc, by thursday she gives me her number and tells me to hit her up without me asking for her number but after I suggested we grab drinks. I text her friday, she tells me she's in vegas for the weekend with her girls.

I don't text her again until monday the following text exchange occurred:

Me: How was vegas blah blah?

Her: Fun blah blah

Me: Let's grab a couple drinks this week, what days are you free?

Her: I'm busy during the week catching up with work and school, I should be free sometime this weekend. Lets play it by ear.

Me: Ok sounds good


Suggestions on my next move with this prospect? Ideally I'd like to get her out somewhere we could dance because she immediately began bragging about her dance skills when she responded to what I opened her with online.

Ya I learnt this lesson the hard way. I was reading somewhere, don't remember if it was here or not but some people who saying pick 1-2 specific days and if she says no, then she's not interested. It cost me a date or two. Nowadays I just use when are you free or available. If they are interested they will give you a day, if they aren't then you'll know right away.
