Agreed. I belong to a Toyota Tacoma forum and guys cuss like sailors on there so I don't see why it'd be an issue here.

I have no problem with a cap but it should not be a daily cap because I nor do most people post daily. the days I am active I can easily make 20 posts a day but I might seriously post here 2 days a week.

It should be a 72 hour or one week cap not 24 hours.

10 posts in 24 hours is nothing, if you want to see this forum really thrive it should be higher, even 20 is low but is more reasonable. It feels very old school and conservative. If there are any trolls just suspend/ban them.

Personally in two minds with profanity ban. Personally, as long as it is not swearing at another member of the forum and not too excessive it should be fine.

**** balls

^definitely need to unban the word "c0ck" at least

Also, yeah, lift the 10 post limit but just ban trolls and KJ's....you know, actually do some moderating. Seems like once a poster becomes a moderator they turn into a ghost. Also, it would be nice if you guys could come up with some kind of reading comprehension test or some $hit, something that would need to be passed before someone could start posting and arguing with someone simply because they don't know how to read.

Moderating has some interesting dynamics attached to it. As a mod you of course are bound to enforce the rules, but you try to avoid heavy-handedness. For that, you get vilified for "not doing your job" by some members.

Then when someone comes along who is over-the-top and won't adhere to the same rules that everyone else here adheres to, you get vilified for banning them after multiple warnings, all of which start out as respectful PMs to the person in question.

Being "dumb", being a KBJ, having reading comprehension issues aren't bannable offenses.

Like any forum, there are elements that are great and beneficial, and elements that might annoy individuals because of personal preference, and that's fair. Overall I think we have a pretty good balance here of allowing ALL men to voice their opinions and thoughts without actual censorship, and a good system for dealing with those who can't control themselves and just want to agitate.

The 10 post limit is certainly an understandable concern, but the boss has his reasons for it, and what he says goes. In practical terms there HAS to be a limit, as a spam attack can wipe a forum out. I've seen that happen to two boards I've been on. Naturally we all have our own idea of the "sweet spot" when it comes to the limit, but at the end of the day this is still a pretty great place to hang around and share ideas, IMO.

I support the 10 post daily limit and hope it stays. The 10 post limit keeps me from spending too much time here, and also cuts down on the posts to read. Cuts down endless flame wars. Why does one need to post more?

The main reason I support a 10 post limit is schmos who have nothing better to do and make 100 one-line thread-bloating posts a day. I can't stand that sh-t from other forums, and mark my words, they will do that here too without a relatively low limit. Maybe 15, that's 50% more.

Don't care one way or other on the profanity filter.

If you need to post more than 10 times a day on an internet forum you need to GET A LIFE. Furthermore, there is an inverse relationship between the quality of the posting and increasing daily post count. It becomes a bunch of one-line tripe that dilutes any meaningful content.

The profanity ban isn't going anywhere. Allowing profanity would negatively affect Google ads on the site, which generate $$. That's the answer.

In my opinion the post limit helps keep the flamers and trolls in check. Maybe raise it to 15. But no more than that.
I think this is right. Not only have I seen this in others, I have seen this in myself. When you have a 10 post limit it really helps de-escalate things.
