is anyone here watching this year?

there is tons of parity in the league and as of right now...nearly everyone has a chance at the playoffs.

tv ratings are up

attendence is up

looks like the league is on the rise.

Yeah, I watch games every week. It's a pretty big deal up here, we head out to the bar every saturday night for it.

Sadly, my team is a pretty big joke this year.

Been into it since I was born, haha.
My Sens have been doing quite well. Hometown Ottawa boy here, so no Canucks for me, haha.
There are still quite a few markets in the US that need to go though. The NHL could make way more money if they let a team or two move back to Canada.

I have been watching primarily the Bruins, as they are the hometown team. To most peoples surprise, they are actually a defensively responsible, gritty team that can be fun to watch. Even with their big "stars" out, they are still putting up 3-4 goals a game, and getting solid goal tending from a guy who was pretty much an AHL for life type player. Playoffs are certainly in the picture too!

Another upside to watching the league are the star players. Kovalchuk is ungodly with dangles, and a nasty shot that always goes upper dance floor. The new guys like Kaner and Gagner are fun to watch too, and will be super stars. For the people who are into the Junior Canadian leagues, many can't wait to see Tavares lace em up in the NHL when he's old enough.

All in all, my interest in the league is only going up.

The shootout and trapezoid both need to go. At least they don't use the shootout in the playoffs.

I think a 10 min overtime would be fine

if you lose in OT you get no points.

dont let the game get to OT if you want points.

10 min is to long for players to play for a tie

I enjoy watching hockey, but NHL games usually bore me. There's too much emphasis on hitting and not enough good passing and shooting. NHL rinks are about 14 feet narrower than international, which stifles the offense and makes hits easier.

They need to adjust the rink size to international standards and it will make the game flow a lot better.

I actually skated with the Red Wings this past Friday for an optional skate when Hasek elected not to attend at the last minute, and they are looking very good.

I am not a Wings fan per se, so I have no bias-actually after so many years of hockey, I try not to watch it anymore, I just play it for fun-but their passing, break outs, cross overs, etc- all looked very fluid and fast. Watch out for them.
