Basically The Notebook is about a man who reads the story of how he and his
wife met to the wife. He does this faithfully everyday as she has some form
of memory loss hoping that she remembers him. She does at the end and they
die in each other's arms and blah blah blah. A nice story, right? Wrong. The
story takes its turn when the woman runs into this man after years of being
apart. Her mom didnt want her with him and interfered with the relationship.
She thought he didnt love her and vice versa. Anyway the only catch is that
when she runs into this guy again, she is engaged to someone else. She
cheatson /leaves the guy she was going marry and falls right into the arms
of the lover from the past and they live happily ever after.
I brought up the point of this movie being rediculous for the female lead's
lack of integrity. The response I got from this woman I was talking to was
"It was ok. It was romantic" I said so it is ok to cheat as long as you are
romantic about it? Her response was that I was hurt by some one. I told her
that woman didnt have any integrity.
If you look at Myspace, Facebook, and Friendster profiles seemingly all
women list The Notebook as a favorite. That really fires me up. It is ok to
cheat? If they made a movie about a guy who pulled this and guys said this
was their favorite movie, there would be such an outcry.
