There's a fine line between learning from other people's successes and failures and judging yourself by other people's standards.

There's a fine line between learning from other people's successes and failures and judging yourself by other people's standards.
For me it is not envy or hate in itself, but the ability to say and observe that "I am not up to their level".
So what good can I take and integrate into myself? Is this envy?

As an observation, you learn from it. You can study people's behavior and ask yourself questions about what is driving each person, watch for details to how they act, etc.
