David Schirmer was the Aussie from The Secret who parked the law of attraction next to a 1986 Volvo station wagon, so to speak. He was also the guy who claimed that by visualizing checks in the mail, he began receiving checks in the mail. Well, it turns out his law of attraction was securities fraud. He was exposed by the Australian version of A Current Affair (Youtube it) and is under criminal investigation by Australian authorities. Considering his dubious claims and his dubious background, I certainly wouldn't entrust his depictions of reality.

The Secret always works for me when I'm looking for a parking space when I'm at WalMart right before they open at 8am and just before 11pm when they close. I'm telling you, it's these Brazilian Power Crystals,..strong stuff here.

You certainly are knowledgeable! I trust my own depictions of reality. I SEE what I want and then I take action to create it. If doors magically open for me along the way that I'm not aware of, that's cool.

It kills me to no end that people will believe in and buy this vague, wishy washy crap, but put a REAL book in front of them that teaches how to become wealthy in a matter of ten years as opposed to 40 and they call it "snake oil".

It's like people either have to believe in mainstream "wisdom" or mystical powers. Ways to become successful that fall outside of these are deemed "scams", when in actuality THAT is where the true "miracles" happen.

While I dont believe that the universe is going to manifest beliefs, PEOPLE manifest beliefs. If you keep thinking you are not good enough, you wont ever be. If you keep thinking something is unattainable, it will never be attained. Positive thinking (arrogance) is what separates winners from losers. I have never seen a negative person do that well.

You cant wish for a winning lotto ticket but you can buy a few and hold thumbs.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

How could this even be argued?

If a person does not believe in a certain result, he will not take actions to bring him to that result.

With conviction, there is persistent action. With persistent action, there are results.

Attention Str8up

Your last post got me researching. I checked out your "guide to getting wealthy" thread. Now correct me if I'm wrong but part of your investment in real estate strategy involves using debt and credit to generate profit.

I view the Law of Attraction in a similar way. I believe to become something (wealthy, ect) you need to just BE that person instead of trying to BECOME the person. You come from a place (mentally) of playing big instead of playing it safe trying to BECOME wealthy. Do you follow?

I know Rollo was giving me flak about the parking spaces example earlier...but I think you need to understand the mindset I'm trying to develop. I want my mindset to be one of ENTITLEMENT where I expect V.I.P. treatment in this world where I just get what I want wherever I go. Will I magically get that from the secret? Maybe, maybe not. But I think it's possible to get that anyway if you just BE the guy who gets that treatment instead of constantly struggling to BECOME the guy who gets V.I.P. treatment. Hope that makes sense.

Anyway, you're wealth thread really has my gears turning. I have a few questions for you that I'll post in that thread if you don't mind taking a look at it.

Be Royal in your Own Fashion: Act like a King to be treated like one

The way you carry yourself will often determine how you are treated; In the long run, appearing vulgar or common will make people disrespect you. For a king respects himself and inspires the same sentiment in others. By acting regally and confident of your powers, you make yourself seem destined to wear a crown.
Agreed.

There is a difference between education (not necessarily talking about college here), effort, and experience culminate to ensure success and "thinking something into being".

You are correct in that wealth is DEFINITELY a mindset, similar to being a DJ. you don't HAVE to be born with it....it can be learned. But make no mistake, you HAVE to get your mind in the right place to make it happen.

I know Rollo was giving me flak about the parking spaces example earlier...but I think you need to understand the mindset I'm trying to develop. You are on the right track with this, but the first thing I thought ten minutes into The Secret is that 99% of the people who are watching this won't go any deeper than making wishes and waiting for a return.

Affirmations, positivity, optimism, all that stuff is GOOD for the cause but it won't do jack sh!t for you in and of itself.

The world is full of people who have great ideas. I would be willing to bet that the best inventions of all time are sitting somewhere in the back of a handful of people's minds right this very second. But they will never come into fruition because all they do is sit around all day and THINK about their idea.

I have a theory. My theory states that success is determined in large part by ACTION. The IDEA is maybe 20% of it. The world is full of great ideas. The ACTION is probably 80%. Without action, the greatest idea in the world is stagnant. And the real reason is it works this way is because action leads to MANY things. Action leads to experience which can translate to wisdom. It plants the seed for NEW ideas.

You can sit around and think think think all you want, but it's the people who do do do that actually go somewhere.

Just a quick thing I just noticed, using the law 34 of act royal. Reading it in this context, it just reminded me of the problem of women and their entitlement mentality. Going around expecting the world to be handed with no effort or struggle. They act poorly and do absolutely nothing, but expect to be treated as queens.

Perhaps the best approach is not so much an entitlement mentality, but as the affirmation, positivity, and so on may not in of it self do anything, it does make actions bolder. For most, a negative mindset means either a half-ass attempt or not even trying. On the other end, being super positive and and expecting the world isn't going to work either.

Positivity, affirmation, optimism seems to be the mindset of going in with confidence which is maybe closer to what the law intended with the line of respecting himself and inspiring others. Entitlement is just expecting to come.

(note: I think truman may actually meant that).

You raised some interesting points about the concept of entitlement. Sure, a lot of girls have that feeling of entitlement and it somewhat works for them. Here me out. Who attracts more guys? A shy girl who walks around with the mindset "no guys want me, I'm not attractive" or a girl who believes "I'm the sh!t, guys want me constantly"?

That sense of entitlement, I hate to say it, is attractive. Think of the hot women they put on the cover of Maxim. Don't they have a look on their face that sort of says "you want me and I KNOW IT"? And that aloofness makes them even more attractive!

Granted, the entitlement factor can be a BAD thing with women. Some women have that sense of entitlement even whey they have NOTHING to offer---yet even women with that attitude still have AFC's at their beck and call. Very interesting.

Anyway, of course I'm not advocating for myself or other guys to take on the feeling of entitlement in a bad way....

However, the mindset I want is this - if I walk into a bar, the bartender gives me the V.I.P. treatment and if I don't get that, I would be SHOCKED. Think, act, BE the guy who walks through life wanting and EXPECTING V.I.P. treatment. You're a guy who naturally and easily gets what he wants. You're not TRYING to become that guy. You ARE that guy. Think like that and the behavior and actions will follow.

Actually, a women having the quality (sexiness in this case) and acting with the knowledge she have it I would not say is entitlement. The closest word to my knowledge in the english language is from translators of Aristotle called "high-mindedness." Arrogance, but he/she deserves it come to mind, but I actually think humbleness can fit in. Letting the action and others do the speaking for him.

Yeah, the real definition of entitlement is well a land monster acts like she deserves to have a prince charming swoop her into his arms (if he can even lift her). A more realistic one is just expectation to have something but never think about the fact or realize she have to do something to gain it.

True, enough, you didn't meant that way anyway. Still interesting thought about entitlement. Even entitlement have its place or so it seems. Somehow there's a balance just a good expectation of good treatment, have humility to remember we're human beings (to cover a possible question, humility is not the same as low confidence), and the "entitlement"/mentality to expect VIP treatment.

The "law of attraction" is obviously real in the sense that you will gravitate in life towards what you focus on, even subconsciously. But anyone who believes in the kind of supernatural horsesh*t illlustrated in The Secret that basically involves telepathy is f*cking loony tunes. The parking space example never fails to crack me up.

We've all belived stupid things at one point or another.

When I first saw The Secret I thought it was pretty for real. About two weeks later I went through a box of old notebooks and came across a couple of my old 'spellbooks'. Workbooks I had used to compile various sigils and whatnot wayyy back when I belived in 'Chaos Magic'. Which is essentially the same stuff as The Secret.

I had a laugh, visualized drinking a coke, then went to the local Quiktrip and bought one.

The only thing these type of cults are good for is that Visualization is a great way to focus on goals, and a positive attitude is a good way to recognize opportunities. You won't get abs of steel with happy thoughts alone, you need to get your fat azz off the sofa.

1) Positive thinking is the foundation of the LOA. If you see things in a positive manner, youll see more opportunities and ultimately be happier. To whoever said depressed people are more gounded and realistic...thats the most bullsh*t ive ever heard. People who are depressed are hopeless and lack motivation and self esteem. Depressed people are aware of negative things in their environment moreso than those who are positive. Positive thoughts are more powerful than negative thoughts. When measured on EEGs, positive thoughts and images have a stronger amplitude than negative thoughts. If you prime someone with a positive stimulus, theyll see the world in a positive light.

2) Self-fufilling prophecy/Confirmation Bias

If one of your friends tells you about someone your about to meet your perception of them will be influenced depending on how they were described. If you were told that they were mean, selfish and acted like a jerk you would confirm you believes and see them in such a manner. If you think youre going to fail at some task, then you will. If you think youll be successful youll be more inclined to prepare in the appropriate manner and you will succeed. This is another thing the LOA is trying to convey, but it gets misinterpreted because everyone likes to be critical of a lot of things.

3) The Subconscious Mind/ Visualization

When the LOA says youll attract things you think about theyre not really talking about hocus pocus magical sh*t. If you habitually think about something and visualize yourself doing it/being successful at it, you increase the chance of achieving your goal. So if i visualize myself being successful in my career and habitually think about how it would feel to be at the level i want to be at, i would subconsciously devise a way to make it happen (Its called incubation, look it up instead of arguing).

4) Gratitude and Thankfulness

How the f*ck is someone going to argue with a philosophy that teaches people to be grateful for what they have instead of teaching bitterness and greed. You do get what you put in in life. If youre selfish and only think about yourself you run into people who do the samething. If anyone has a problem with this point, you should probably do some introspective thinking.

Yea, thats all i can think of right now, but if it doesnt make sense say something and ill clarify. Id be willing to be you would rather hang around someone with these affirmations than a depressed, pessimistic, negative, whiny, b*tchy person who like to talk sh*t about everyone and everything. If anyone wants to add anything, go ahead.

Youre all fags BTW.

It works like this:

Say you want a muscular body.

First you visualize yourself having a muscular body.

Then you have to BELIEVE with every fiber in your body that you can have a muscular body.

Then you have to FEEL like you already have a muscular body and again, you have to believe it fully.

Then you act like someone with a muscular body and be grateful for it. (You get your a$$ to the gym)

Then you will attract the people in your life that can help you (personal trainer, friends with knowledge etc)

This is how it works with everything.

That is basically the law of attraction broken down.

It's amazing to see people argueing against the LOA when they know nothing about it. Nobody said you just have to sit on your as* and everything you wished for will magically appear.
