Id rather have Stevie Wonder shave my sack with a straight-edge, I hate buying christmas, b-day and valentines day presents for a woman.
I'm in a serious relationship and the thought of a possibility of having to do this EVERY year for the rest of my life makes the hair all over my body stand up.

I've never been good at gift-giving, I think universally the two things women like best, clothing and jewelry, are out of the question for most straight men... certainly for me.
I, like most guys, don't know a damn thing about women's clothes and the odds of getting something she'd like is, well, bad! Jewlery is sometwhat easier but still a big hit or miss IMO, esp. with most women being much more fashion savvy than guys.

What does that leave? The lame bottle of perfume every year? I need some pointers here b/c for the life of me I can't think of anything.
I can think of some things like electronics, but how cold of a gift is that?
A gift card sounds like something you'd receive from an uncle.
What are the do's and donts here??

Try listening to your women a bit more diligently. Most women tell guys what they like throughout the year, guys just seldom listen to them.

well gifts depend on lots of things, like the occasion , what the receiver really needs or likes , how much money the giver is spending and lets be honest, the giver's interests also.
how many times did you get the most god awful thing, only to look up and see the giver of the gift, smiling ear to ear because they really liked it? then you say its nice.

something my husband and i decided to do for each other was make a gift list. if theres a movie or a cd or a nice shirt or whatever we put it on the wish list. computer games, books, whatever is new that we would like to have, goes on the list.

every once in the while we run into a walmart or something and if either of us passes something neat we say, ah i like that. then we keep walking. by pointing stuff out to each other, we know what each other likes.

I know she's been wanting this palm pilot/cell phone thing that came out not too long ago, been talking about it a lot.... Ive just always felt kind of weird giving elecronics as gifts.
One of her best friends (a guy) gave her this diamond bracelet a while back, and here I am with some palm pilot lol... I don't know, maybe it's all in my head.
No way in hell I am getting her a diamond ANYTHING at this point (too early) but I just don't like everyone else showering her with all these crazy expensive/romantic gifts and then I look like the cheap one.

I have 1 gift that I buy for men and women, regardless of who they are: Alcohol. Its the easiest, cheapest, and I have a card that gives me points for every dollar I spend at the liquor mart.

We all win!

i dont think i could wear a diamond braclet without thinking someone would try to steal it off my arm.

if she wants the palm pilot, and has mentioned it, then that is really what she wants.

Pick a gift like you would with anyone else: Ask her what she wants if you're not sure. If she's offended by this question, your relationship has bigger problems than picking gifts.

If she's a Dinamo fan then buy her a scarf, she will love it:

As you can see there are a lot of models, so you should be set for a lifetime, every year a different scarf, that's my motto when receiving gifts, as my friends now that I'm a Dinamo ultras.
