I used to be a lazy guy. Everything felt like a chore. Going to a party almost seemed like effort. Everything that required me to get up would be seriously considered if it was really worth the effort.
For me, I work out because of the mindset benefits. It keeps me courageous, masculine, competitive, dominant, strong willed, disciplined, confident in the face of challenge. Happy, good mood, social and outgoing, peaceful, energetic, enthusiastic. Now I want to challenge myself. I want to make an effort. I want to take responsibility. I want to be out of my comfort zone. Intense training makes you an alpha male. Weather it be tennis or weights. Any time we challenge our body to preform beyond our supposed "limits" it does something to your mindset. It makes you an achiever. It makes you hungry for more. It feeds your mind, cause you know you can overcome any challenge instead of backing of. When you think about the kind of training you go through, everything else in life seems easy in comparison. That is if you actually push yourself intensely to the limit every time you train. The ****tail of hormones, bio chemicals and endorphines and what-not that the body produces as a result of working out, grounds you and brings you back to the essence of masculinity. You understand the essence of being a real man.
I think I can sum it up to happiness, motivation, drive and confidence.
It´s not so much about being big and strong for me. Granted, I don´t work out with weights any more. I´ve been big and strong, I used to train powerlifting for five years, and injuries kept up compiling. So I begun training a kick boxing/grappling combination. It´s extremely intense, I die every training and, I reap the same mental benefits and more. With any type of training, you see improvement. And more often than not we become addicted to improving the status quo in all areas of life. So I love it
Now to the guys who think a muscular ripped body is the answer to all your girl problems, and see that as a reason to work out, consider this: When I was powerlifting, I was 220 lbs and oh, about 40 lbs overweight at 5´8 tall. Fat basically. But when I looked in the mirror, I saw a damn sexy mofo and I felt like a really sexy guy who women want. That alone attracted women to me.
