In the age of IM, texting, email and cell phones, never underestimate the power of a simple, handwritten letter delivered to her mailbox.

Friday is the last day to mail your Valentine's which might be the perfect opportunity for your first such letter.

Some tips:

1) Keep it short - one or two sentences. Something like "You are precious to me." can work wonders.

2) Understand handwriting analysis - you don't want to display "hell traits".

3) Keep it formal - in cursive (that doesn't mean you swear a lot). It means handwriting (you probably are rusty), with the date in the upper right and "Dear (miss)" and "Sincerely" etc.

4) If you are in a NC situation and she's starting to call you a lot again, it might be worth cutting off all other contact over the weekend until she receives your letter for maximum effect. Hopefully it arrives on Monday.

5) This is not a Hallmark card - it goes in a regular envelope and is written on standard paper.

Please share your thoughts on this idea.

I hand write and mail letters to my girl all the time. It beats the hell out of using Facebook and texting, and she loves it. I never call her, text her, and I don't have a f*cking Facebook, so the only time we really talk is in person and through letters.

And it saves me from wasting my time looking like a fagg*t with an expensive little piece of plastic in my hand sending cutesy smiley faces and "lol's".

I'd rather spend my time working on my business/****ing my girl than prancing around facebook and text like some kind of cracked up teenager.

Was this a Freudian slip?

Keep your repressed fantasies to yourself.

And you're getting way off topic - Valentine's day was simply a side note to this proven idea. But keep texting your boyfriend little guy.

Sending mail (in whatever form) to win over the fair maidens heart is hardly a "proven idea" for anyone over 12 mate.

Where do you think you are?

I HATE writing letters by hand. Heck, even taking notes in class is a rather unpleasant task.

The fine motor impairments I have just make me abhor handwriting.
Fortunately with the advent of the printer, I see no true need for handwritten letters.

As with Vice, I also agree that those little cutesy Hallmark cards are pointless. If I wanted to send a piece of cardboard with a little half-clever phrase, I'd simply type one up myself. Why pay $5 for it?

snail mail is so baller. Ive been doing it recently and been getting really good responses. people really appreciate that you take the time to do it.

if you are writing it to someone to whom you are romantically interested, make sure to include a subtle DHV to show youre not too into it. Like, I am writing this on the plane and thinking of you, or something like that.

Hmmm, I like the idea of handwritten letters, never tried that myself....

But I have one concern, I'm Single, and I'm happy with it, I'm not really into relationships, so I have many of those loose friendships with girls I have Sex with every now and then. So by sending them a handwritten letter, wouldn't that be simply "too much" for a simply sex-relationship? I mean, these girls enjoy their freedom too, none of them expects or wants a relationship with me, so as much as I like the idea, I think that could cause some problems for me
