No, sir... WE suck!

I did my hour two days out of the last three. I haven't reached the bar that I've set for myself yet, but I'm doing much better and will continue to work on it.

Had a request from a VERY hot babe at church for lessons. Hmmm... what should I do? :D

Preparing to help her will help me to get down to it and accomplish my one hour per day. That's the great thing about having a defined task and being accountable to others.

Congratulations on the upcoming meeting, 5string. Let us know how it works out. I hope the chemistry is good.
Tell the gal from church to get on her knees and "pray". :D

For what it worth. I know that VH has a new song coming out in two weeks. In addition, watching videos of people trying to play "spanish fly" really motivates me to get better and to enjoy the new music.

peace

Hello. I've been playing guitar for 4 years. I like to think I've got a natural talent for the instrument, but as i'm constantly told that is useless without practice, which is something I do an abysmal 1hr per week average, if that. I play electric guitar in a high-school band, we only do covers and we've existed for about 5 months now, the fact that we only do covers can be attributed to my inability to write anything that doesn't sound like it's from the 17th century.

That can be attributed to the fact that I study classical guitar, which I enjoy greatly, however it's rubbed off on my style so that I don't use picks and only fingerpick, but also play in a very classical style. Additionally classical guitar is second only to (Adjective)metal in the scale of women being interested, mt grandmother is though, i've quickly found out that no girls like bach, but they do like oasis.

My long term goal is to learn Asturias on the Classical guitar and Red House on the Electric guitar. I stress long term. I shall attempt to hit 2 hours a week of practise, you may hold me to that. Because at the moment that because at the moment I don't achieve that.

It should be noted that I do spend about 14-18 hours a week actually playing guitar, but I don't practise what i'm told to and spend it all soloeing.

You have no idea how much that classical training will come in handy if you ever want to play rock and roll differently than every other shmuck with a guitar. All great music is a mixture of old music redone in a modern format.

I've been doing well with my practice. I just got a new addition to my looper, which allows me to access all of its functions without having to bend down to tweak knobs, and that is really helping my practice.

You already found your own solution to your classical style problem: do what you're told and practice the rock stuff.

I've been practicing regularily, think I've gotten slightly quicker.

My goal(s) is to continue learning the songs I need for my band and also some extra lead parts because it's taking the other guitarist forever to learn it.

Also, I'm having a tone problem. Not sure if you guys can help. I run a Boss GT-6 effects processor. Didn't like the distortion tone before and some guy at my local music shop told me to turn off my preamp on my pedal. And sure enough the tone was a lot better sounding, after changing my over drive type.

Now I have a new problem it sounds fine playing open chords. But the second I palm mute it seems like it's way louder / bassier. I don't get it. It's really obvious and I don't like it. I turned down my lows on my cabinet but that definitely wasn't it(It may of SLIGHTLY helped). It just made the rest of my stuff sound crappier becasue it was too bright.
